The Central Board of Secondary Education has made some landmark changes in its education system. This evolution includes the changes in the exams pattern for class 10 and 12, the question papers in encrypted form, the conduction of the exams soon, the release of the results early, no homework for class 1 and 2 etc.

Exams will be Held from February 2019

As per the recent notification released by CBSE, the board exams of class 10 and class 12 will be held in the month of February 2019. Earlier, the vocational and the core subjects’ exams were used to be held in the month of March itself. But from 2019 session, CBSE will conduct the skill education (vocational) exams in February while for the core subjects, the exams will be conducted in March. CBSE has taken this initiative for the convenience of the students. There are 15 vocational subjects in Class 10 while 40 skill education subjects have been offered for class 12. There are also some other subjects such as Graphics, Office Communication, Web Applications which have less than 500 students. So, CBSE has decided to conclude the exams of these subjects in the month of February 2019 while March 2019 will be used for the main exams for the core subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Languages, Chemistry, Biology, Geography etc.

Results will be Announced Earlier

The High Court of Delhi has directed CBSE to release the results earlier from this academic year. Delhi HC added that the results of from the main exams to the revaluation results must be announced sooner. So, HRD Minister, Prakash Javedkar has also directed CBSE to make efforts in this direction.

This year, many students have faced the problem due to the late revaluation result. Thus, this initiative will be very helpful for the students.

Two Test Paper Options for Class 10 Mathematics

This decision of CBSE has given a sigh of relief to the students. Now, the candidates of class 10 will get the option to answer a standard-level or the existing-level mathematics question paper. The students who do not want to pursue Mathematics for the higher studies can opt the standard level of Maths. There is also a committee of 15 members comprising mathematics experts. The syllabus would be the same for the students. But they will get the chance to choose one question paper on the basis of their convenience.

Digitalization of the Question Papers

To avoid any kind of paper leak in the board exams, CBSE has made a change in terms of question papers. So, the board launched a pilot project as the encrypted form of question papers. For Class 10 Compartment exams, CBSE issued the encrypted question paper to the principal of the respective schools and the principals were able to download it right before the exams by using the user id and password. There were some issues with this step. So, CBSE is trying to improve it and will apply this step from the next year.

No Home Work for Class 1 and class 2

Madras High Court instructed CBSE to remove the ritual of giving the homework to class 1 and class 2 students. Also, the weight of the bags should be 1/4 to the weight of the student. The regional officers of CBSE and the Association of Management of Private Schools are instructed to prescribe the NCERT syllabus to the students.

These are some initiative taken by CBSE this year. Share your views regarding these steps. To do so feel free to use the comment section given below.

The direction regarding the school bag weight is extremely welcome , however whether and how schools will implement it is a concern.
Request the board to strongly consider reduced school hours ,kids need to be unburdened, to have free time, to pursue hobbies for a more enriched childhood.

CBSE should also remove trigonometry from class11 and 12 for commerce students. As commerce stream does not require this in future.

Firstly I welcome the new rules & regulation initiateold by CBSE definitely a great releive of stress & unnecessary burdens of students. This will result in better performance of student status in terms of quality of education & better performance of students.
In my opinion one main & important issue remains unattended and needs atmost attention to be addressed is ” Uniform & one syllabus having all textbooks of only published by NCERT publication to be implemented to all schools whether it is Government shool or private school all over the country.
I have observed that publication mafia in saga with Private schools have made business of supplying textbooks keeping the quality of education a side. Secondly ultimate suffers are parents who are left with no option to cough of heavy amount on purchases of books forced by private schools to buy textbooks of publication recommended by the. Uniform syllabus & textbooks will give opportunity to improve the quality of education & better performance of students with feeling of oneness & integrity.

Most of the schools in bangalore like Vibgyor, Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Vagdevi Vilas institutions, Chrysalis high, Greenwood High, NPS, National Hill View, Aamatra etc have academic coordinator, principals and secondaey teachers whose qualification and experience are not upto mark. They pamper children’s and parents, and nothing academic progress in child is happening. CBSE board should inspect these school’s and cancel licenses of those school’s whose principal and academic coordinator don’t possess required B.Ed or M.Ed. Please make it a rule that academic coordinator and principals should posses M.Ed.

WHY DO WE NEED TO HAVE HOME WORK. STUDENTS HAVE LOTS OF OTHER EXTRA CURRICULAR STUDIES PLAY PRACTICE ETC THOUGH SCHOOL CAN CLAIM THAT THEY DO PROVIDE BUT WATCH OUT AS THEY DON’T GUARANTEE FOR RESULTS

Why is cbse doing hit and trial method with our future generation. They come out with a rule and again change it within a year or two . Banning of homework for class 1 and 2 why to do so ,,,,,homework takes maximum half an hour to be completed for small kids. Homework should be taken as daily routine for every age kid.If they are not made to sit atleast for half an hour what guarantee you have that suddenly in class three they will sit for long hour and complete their homeworks. In class three it will be a huge task for them homework will be vast and children wont be prepared for it.Except few kids other kids will suffer whole year .

Sir/Mam that’s really a good initiative taken by CBSE board but please do look after it that every school rather be it public or private school applies to it as there are many schools running privately such as PODAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AMBERNATH (WEST) running school n declaring national holidays according to their comforts teachers are punishing the students not by beating them but by making them stand the whole period of that particular subject and if the parent is speaking regarding the same they are defending their teachers, when asked about the CCTV in the class the PRINCIPLE of the school MR.VIJAY RAJ RAMAN says that there is no need of CCTV’s whereas at the time of admissions we as parents where informed that the classes will CCTV’s n air-conditioners where it comes to syllabus parents are not at all aware of what their child is taught and the parents are informed with the syllabus hardly 4-5days prior the test for class one and they are neither informing about the timetable saying it is not allowed to give timetable whereas in PODAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (KALYAN) KHADAKPADA branch the parents are informed about everything.
PLEASE KINDLY LOOK INTO IT AND DO THE NEEDFUL.
    THANKS.
    REGARDS
    RINKU AHUJA.

      Hi Ashlekha,
First CBSE will analyze this initiative. If all the things will go well then it may possible that CBSE will consider the other subjects also regarding this change.
