Department of Environment and Forest, Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration is inviting applications in the prescribed proforma to fill up 200 vacancies. The posts are called Marine Wildlife Protection Watchers and appointed candidates are to be paid a fixed monthly salary of Rs 15000. Only local male candidates of the UT of Lakshadweep are eligible to apply. As per the detailed recruitment notice, the vacancies are distributed across various islands constituting the UT of Lakshadweep. The openings are distributed across the islands of Kavaratti (50), Agatti (35), Amini (10), Andrott (20), Minicoy (10), Kadmat (10), Kalpeni (15), Kiltan (10), Chetlat (10) and Bitra (30). Applicants are directed to register their candidature to the native island only. This is because, being a local and male candidate is a mandatory eligibility condition of the recruitment. All candidates must be between 18 to 25 years of age and having passed Class 10. Relaxations on the upper age limit can be available by candidates belonging to reserved categories. Additionally, candidates must match the minimum physical conditions such as minimum height of 163 cms and 80 cm chest with 5 cm expansion. Candidates are required to pass physical efficiency tests that includes walking, swimming and floating in the sea.
Eligible applicants are to be shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the shortlisting process. The marks are distributed across the parameters of academic marks, Open water dive certification, sports certificate of National or State level, NCC/NSS certificate, and personal interview. 50% weightage of marks is allocated to academic qualifications. 10 marks are reserved for Open water diver certification. 5 and 10 marks are reserved for a sports certificate of State or National level respectively. Another 5 marks are reserved for NCC/NSS certificate. The personal interview carries 20 marks. However, before appearing for the personal interview, candidates are required to pass the preliminary selection stages. The merit list of initially shortlisted candidates is released through the website only and candidates shortlisted can proceed for the subsequent stages of a physical standard test, endurance test, and personal interview. Candidates have to qualify through these tests in the specified order to appear in the final interview.

Applicants are required to affix their recent passport sized photographs to the application form and sign it. Scanned copies of documents supporting the candidature, such as proof of age, academic qualifications, community etc. must be attached with the applications. There is no specified application fee. However the applications must reach the respective Unit Office of the Department of Environment & Forest, UT of Lakshadweep by the stated last date.
