The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is an entrance examination conducted for admission to UG programs in engineering, architecture, veterinary, farm science etc. in the state. This year, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has not yet announced the KCET 2021 application form release date. However, the exam stands postponed to revised dates in August 2021.
Earlier, the KCET 2021 exam was scheduled to be held on July 07 & 08, 2021. However, in the wake of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the Karnataka state government decided to postpone the exam to August 2021. The exam is now scheduled to be held on August 28, 2021 for Biology & Mathematics paper and on August 29, 2021 for Physics & Chemistry papers. The exam for Kannada language is scheduled to be held on August 30, 2021.
Although the Karnataka Examinations Authority has not talked about any particular KCET 2021 application form release date, the application form is expected to release very soon. A delay in the release of the KCET 2021 application form now means that the KCET application form for the upcoming exam may also be delayed from the usual schedule. However, since the KCET 2021 exam dates are already confirmed by the Karnataka Government and officially declared by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, it can be expected that the KEA will release the application form very soon.
KCET application form releases on the official website i.e. kea.karnataka.nic.in or cetonline.karnataka.gov.in only. Although detailed instructions and guidelines are expected to be updated with the release of the application form, based on previous year trends, applicants have to register online and then fill up the application form by paying the requisite KCET application fee.
Last year, the KCET application fee for GM, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B categories of Karnataka was Rs 500 while for SC, ST, Category I candidates and female candidates of Karnataka, the application fee was Rs 250 only. On the other hand, the KCET application fee last year for candidates from outside of the state was Rs 750 while for those candidates who are from outside of India was Rs 5000.
KCET ranking is usually based on the merit in the entrance test and PUC exam (qualifying exam). However, as per the latest developments, the state government has cancelled the PUC (Class 12) exams in the state. Thus, speculations are arising as to whether the PUC marks will be considered for the KCET ranking this year. There is no official confirmation or rejection of the KEA regarding this matter till now. Candidates are advised to remain vigilant on the official website for the latest updates.
