Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education Research, has today released the online application form and prospectus for MD/MS entrance exam 2020. Admissions to PG programs in JIPMER takes place twice a year – January and July. The applications invited now, are for JIPMER PG 2020 for January session admissions.
Page 4 of the prospectus details all the important dates of the exam. As per it, online registration will close on October 25, 2019. Hall tickets will be issued on November 13, 2019. The exam is scheduled to be held on December 8, 2019. JIPMER will announce result of MD/MS entrance exam by December 18, 2019.
Once the results are out, counselling will begin. Dates for counselling are also provided. The dates for first, second, third, and final counselling are respectively December 27, 2019, January 8, 2020, February 5, 2020, February 26, 2020. Course will commence on January 1, 2020. Admissions will close on February 29, 2020.
To appear in the entrance exam, medical graduates need to fill the online form within the deadline. Link to apply online has been activated at jipmer.edu.in.

Filling the form is broadly a two step process. First step is to enter name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID and submit them – this completes the registration. Post this, user ID and password are sent to the registered mobile number and email ID. After which, candidates need to login and fill all the details in the form and submit it. The second step comprises of various sub-steps that include uploading documents and paying fees.
The application fee for JIPMER PG 2020 January session MD/MS entrance exam is Rs 1,600 for general, OBC, OCI, sponsored candidates. It is Rs 1,200 for SC, ST. foreign nationals have to pay Rs 3,000. OPH and PWD candidates are exempted from fees.
It is important to highlight that the photograph to be uploaded in the form should be such where the candidate is holding a placard with his or her name, and date of taking the photograph. Photo should be one that has been taken on or after July 1, 2019.
JIPMER MD/MS entrance exam 2020 will be a computer based test. It will have 100 questions on basic clinical sciences, and 150 on clinical sciences. To be considered for merit list, candidate must get at least 50th percentile if they belong to unreserved, OCI, FN, Sponsored category. UR-OPH should get 45th percentile. And SC, ST, OBC, OPH must get 40th percentile.
The exam will be held in 10 cities in India, namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhuwaneswar, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijaywada.
As per the NIRF 2019 ranking of medical colleges, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research has been awarded the 8th rank all India. The total PG medical seats in the institute are 90.
