National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently conducting the JEE Main 2022 application process. Interested and eligible aspirants need to apply for the national-level entrance exam through the online mode, on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. In addition to the application form, NTA has also released the information brochure containing all the required information about this exam. So, all those who wish to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 must go through this document before applying.
While filling out the JEE Main 2022 application form, candidates are getting confused with two aspects – 1. Premises No./ Name and 2. Caste certificate. To help them clear their doubts, the following are some crucial details that candidates ought to know.
Premises No./Name Meaning
During the JEE Main 2022 application process, candidates have to enter two types of addresses – 1. Permanent address and 2. Current address. In both these fields, there is a credential called “Premises No./Name”. Although confusing for some candidates, this term has a simple meaning.
In the Premises No./Name field, aspirants must simply enter their door number (in case they live in a building) or name (in case they live in a stand-alone home or bungalow). Additionally, it is also better if the permanent address corroborates with the one mentioned in Aadhar Card for verification purposes. However, it is not an obligation.
Is Caste Certificate Required?
While filling out the JEE Main 2022 application form, candidates need to upload four documents – 1. Scanned copy of the picture, 2. Scanned copy of signature, 3. PwD Certificate (if applicable) and 4. Category Certificate (if applicable).
The category or caste certificate is for those candidates who belong to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, etc. Those belonging to such categories can claim reservations during the admission process. They will also be placed in a separate merit list to avail admission at their desired colleges, subject to eligibility.
With this factor in place, it is mandatory for candidates to upload their caste/category certificate issued by a competent authority. Any issue with this certificate may deem a candidate unfit for claiming reservation.
