NEET 2026 Cutoff Expected: Category Wise Analysis

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 is scheduled for May 3, 2026 (Sunday) from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in pen-and-paper mode, conducted by the National Testing Agency. NEET is the gateway for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and other undergraduate medical programmes across India. Over 26 lakh candidates are expected to appear. The cutoff is expected to remain highly competitive this year due to rising participation.

April 21, 2026 – 9:00 AM

NEET UG 2026 is just 12 days away — the exam is on May 3, 2026. NTA released the NEET 2026 city intimation slip on April 12. The admit card is expected to be released by April 29, 2026 at neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates should download the city slip now to know their exam city and begin planning travel and accommodation. With over 26 lakh candidates expected, competition will be intense. Students should focus on NCERT Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in the final stretch. Practice with NEET mock tests for last-minute preparation.

NEET 2026 expected cutoff may remain competitive this year due to high participation. Experts suggested candidates should target higher scores for top medical colleges across categories.

April 13, 2026 – 8:45 AM

Academic experts suggested that even minor changes in exam pattern or difficulty could influence NEET 2026 cutoff trends this year.

April 12, 2026 – City Intimation Slip Released

NTA released the NEET 2026 City Intimation Slip at neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can log in to download the slip and check their allotted exam city, state, exam date, time, and reporting details.

Initial discussions among experts indicated that NEET 2026 cutoff may vary slightly depending on subject-wise difficulty levels in the paper.

April 8, 2026 – 9:40 AM

NEET 2026 expected cutoff remained a key concern among students. Early analysis suggested competition may increase this year.

April 6, 2026 – 5:45 PM

Students were advised to aim for higher scores to secure admission in top government medical colleges.

Based on previous year trends, the expected NEET 2026 cutoff for the General category may range between 715–720 marks, while for OBC, SC, and ST categories, the qualifying cutoff is expected to be lower. The qualifying cutoff determines eligibility, while college-wise admission cutoff depends on closing ranks in counselling.

NEET 2026 result is expected in June 2026, after which the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct NEET UG counselling for 15% All India Quota seats. State quota (85%) counselling will be managed by respective state authorities. Candidates are advised to aim for the highest possible score. For official notifications, visit neet.nta.nic.in.
