JEE Advanced 2021 Paper 1 has been successfully conducted by NTA today i.e. October 03, 2021, from 9 am to 12 pm. As per the analysis of the paper 1 exam, the questions were easier than last time. Though this raises the chances of paper 2 being tougher than before.
This year the JEE Advanced 2021 paper 1 exam had three sections – physics, chemistry, mathematics with 19 questions of 60 marks each. Thus the overall paper had 57 questions of 180 marks. Physics was toughest, followed by mathematics, and then chemistry.
JEE Advanced 2021 paper 1 exam pattern
Duration: 3 hours
Mode: Computer Based Test
Parts: 3 (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
Part wise details:
Name of Section | No. of Qs, Type, and Marking Scheme |
---|---|
Section 1 | 4 Qs, Single Answer Correct Type, (+3, -1) |
Section 2 | 6 Qs, Integer Answer Type, (+2, 0) |
Section 3 | 4 Qs, Multiple Answer Correct Type, (+4, -2) |
Section 4 | 3 Qs, Non Negative Integer Answer Type, (+4, 0) |
The candidates found different types of questions viz. multiple correct questions and single correct questions from the single type. There were no questions from questions in the comprehension or paragraph type format this year.
JEE Advanced 2021 Student Reactions
- JEE Advanced 2021 was held for 180 questions
- Physics emerged as the toughest section, in the toughness meter, students kept Physics> Mathematics>Chemistry
- Questions were asked as integer type questions.
- 6 questions were from multiple type and 3 single option type
- Maximum questions were from the class 12th syllabus
- No questions were asked from Calculus chapter
- Reaction based and salt analysis questions were asked in chemistry paper
- Questions from Physical chemistry dominated the chemistry paper
- Chemistry had electrostatic based questions and students have to calculate charge in the plane
Amongst both the sections, Physics was difficult to attempt while Chemistry and Mathematics were found to be doable. As compared to last year JEE Advanced 2020 paper, mathematics was easy while levels of physics and chemistry were more or less the same.
In the Physics section, maximum questions were from the projectile, electrostatics, motion, questions based on potential, magnetic field, wavelength. However, there were no questions from the force and motion chapter. In Physics, the students found that the maximum questions asked were from the class 12th syllabus as compared to the class 11th.
Similarly, in the chemistry section, the weightage of questions was equal and the maximum questions were from Physical and organic questions. There were questions from the reaction, coordination compound, solid states and salt analysis.
Talking about the Mathematics sections, questions from Algebra, complex numbers, real numbers, matrices were found in the question paper. However, to the candidate’s surprise, there was not a single question from Integration and Differentiation. It is expected that questions based on Calculus can be asked in JEE Advanced 2021 paper 2.
Top coaching institutes like Allen, Resonance, Akash etc will release the unofficial answer key for the JEE advanced paper 2021. The candidates who have participated in the exam can have a look at these answer keys to get an idea of their overall performance level and a rough estimate of the marks and percentile scored.
The agency has also scheduled the JEE Advanced 2021 paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm today for all the eligible candidates. Although 2.5 lakh students cleared to appear in the JEE Advanced 2021 exam, only 1,51,207 students actually registered for it.
