Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, is conducting the IIT-Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM). The registration process begins from September 10, 2020, and will end on October 15, 2020. Candidates are advised to visit the official website of the institute jam.iisc.ac.in, to register themselves for the admission process. The entrance test is for the candidates who are looking forward to pursuing M.Sc or M.Sc PhD in various Science related subjects. Applications for JAM 2021 can only be submitted on the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) only.
IISc Bangalore has scheduled the JAM 2021 on February 14, 2021. The examination will be held in two sessions in a computer-based format. Admit cards for the exam will be available in January on the official website. JAM 2021 can only be given in the English language.
The examination format contains objective-based questions divided into three formats- Multiple choice questions (Section A), Multiple select questions (Section B) and Numerical answer type questions (Section C). Section A will have 30 questions – 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Section B will have 10 questions of two marks each. Section C will have 30 questions- 20 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each. Negative marking is present only in Section A. For each wrong answer to one-mark questions, 1/3 marks will be deducted. For each wrong answer to two-mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted.
To apply for JAM 2021, the candidates must satisfy the basic IIT JAM, 2021 requirements according to the course selected. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum cut-off marks. The minimum aggregate marks are 55% or 5.5/10 for General/OBC category candidates. A 5% relaxation is given to the SC/ST and PwD category candidates. For candidates acquiring grades/CGPA, the equivalent marks will be decided by the institute. Candidates in their final year are also eligible to apply for the same. There are no age restrictions for the entrance examination.
Registration process will take place on the official website of IIT-JAM, 2021 i.e. jam.iisc.ac.in. The link to be used is ‘Application Login (JOAPS)’ available on the official portal. Fees for the process can be paid through both online and offline modes. Candidates have the choice to pay the fees for one test paper or two test papers. Females (all categories), SC/ST/PwD candidates have to pay Rs. 750 for one test paper and Rs. 1050 for two test papers. Others have to pay Rs. 1000 for one test paper and Rs. 2100 for two test papers.
The IIT-Jam 2021 Application form requires accurate details of the candidate which will be used for future admission formalities. The documents required are Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate and Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate. If grades or CGPA is mentioned in both class 10 and 12 marksheets, then the equivalent percentile has to be entered in the marks-field.
Qualifying degree marksheet and graduation certificate, Nationality certificate, Caste or PwD certificate (for SC/ST/PwD candidates) are also required. After paying the admission fee, the scanned copy of the institute’s E-challan needs to be uploaded before the last date of the application form submission on the official portal.
Note- The dates for correction in the application form will be announced once the registration process is over. No discrepancies or changes will be entertained after issuing the IIT-JAM Admit card. Candidates can check the status of their application form by logging into the official website.
