Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the admit card for Indian Engineering Services (IES) / Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2020 today, at upsc.gov.in. IES admit card 2020 has been released for the engineering services preliminary exam that is scheduled to be held on January 5, 2020.
To download the IES admit card 2020, candidates can either access the link upsconline.nic.in/eadmitcard/admitcard_ese_2020/ directly. Or, they can first go to upsc.gov.in, click “e – Admit Card: Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2020”, then click the link in the links section of the next page.
At upsconline.nic.in/eadmitcard/admitcard_ese_2020/, one can see the start date (December 11, 2019) and end date (January 5, 2020) to download the admit card. Besides the page conveys technical instructions such as one should use google chrome, mozilla firefox to carry out this activity, javascript should be enabled, that windows OS on desktop is preferable over mobile phone to download admit card.
UPSC also conveys that if candidates face any trouble in downloading the e-admit card for engineering services exam, or they find any discrepancy, then they should contact [email protected] for technical problem, and [email protected] for applicant data problem.
Clicking the link under download section opens a page with list of instructions, that IES 2020 candidates should be aware of. Proceeding from there, candidates can either login with RID or roll number. Thus one can login either with registration ID or roll number and date of birth in order to get their IES admit card.
It may be noted that forgot RID link is also available on the last login page. To get registration ID, one has to enter name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth.
The contact details of facilitation counter of Union Public Service Commission, which may also be contacted in case of non receipt of admit card or any other related communication, are 011‐23381125, 011‐23385271, 011‐23098543. In any communication with the commission, candidates should clearly provide name and year of exam, registration ID, roll number if received, name of candidate in full, valid email address, complete postal address as given during registration.
If admit card does not contain a clear photograph, then candidates also need to bring a photo identity proof such as aadhaar card, driving license, passport, voter ID.
UPSC will conduct the IES 2020 exam on Sunday, January 5, 2020, for all four categories of candidates namely civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering to fill 495 vacancies in various ministries and departments in the government. The exam will be held at Agartala, Chennai, Itanagar, Mumbai, Shimla, Ahmedabad, Cuttack, Jaipur, Nagpur, Srinagar, Aizawl, Dehradun, Jammu, Panaji (Goa), Thiruvananthapuram, Aligarh, Delhi, Jorhat, Patna, Tirupati, Allahabad, Dharwad, Kochi (Cochin), Port, Blair, Udaipur, Bangalore, Dispur(Guwahati), Kohima, Raipur, Vishakhapatnam, Bareilly, Gangtok, Kolkata, Ranchi, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Sambalpur, Chandigarh, Imphal, Madurai, Shillong.
IES prelims will have 2 objective type papers I and II. Paper I will be general studies and engineering aptitude of 200 marks and paper II will be subject specific, of 300. Those who qualify prelims will be shortlisted for mains.
