Karnataka High Court, in its recent notification, has advertised the recruitment for District Judges. The conducting body has announced 30 vacant posts that will be filled by the direct recruitment process. Aspirants interested in the recruiter can apply only before the last date; October 21, 2020. The vacancies that are advertised by Karnataka High Court has 23 backlog vacancies and 07 fresh vacancies. A candidate selected for District Judge under these vacancies is initially appointed for 02 years probation. They also get paid during their probation period with a monthly salary of Rs.51550-1230-58930-1380-63070.
Aspirants must hold a law degree by the recognized university while applying for District Judge post. They must be practising as an advocate in the High Court or in a subordinate court and must have practised for at least 07 years as on the last date to apply. Candidates must not have attained the upper age limit of 48 years for SC/ ST and 45 years for other candidates. Also, 05 years age relaxation is provided to Ex-servicemen. The age is calculated by Karnataka High Court as on the last date of the receipt of application.

In the application form, candidates have to provide details such as enrollment information, educational qualification, contact information and others. While applying, candidates are asked to write a 150 characters (maximum) writeup on why they want to be a Judge.
The exam fee can be submitted via online or offline payment mode. It is important to note that candidates have to pay a separate application fee for preliminary and mains examination. First, aspirants are asked to submit the fees for preliminary exam which is Rs. 500/- for other candidates, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/Category-I. Candidates qualifying preliminary then have to pay the examination fee to appear for mains exam. They have to pay an amount of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 750/- for SC/ST/Category-I).
To fill the vacant posts through Direct Recruitment, Karnataka High Court will be conducting the competitive examination. This competitive examination consists of 03 stages – preliminary exam, mains exam and interview. Selection of candidates as District Judges is made in order of merit based on aggregate marks in written exam and interview. The final result will be displayed on the Karnataka High Court website.
