IIT Kharagpur shall release the GATE 2022 admit card today, ie. on January 3, 2022. The exact time at which the admit card for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be released has not been officially announced. However it is expected to be towards the afternoon or evening. The national level entrance exam will be held on February 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2022.
It may be noted that until two years ago, the organizing IIT always released the GATE admit card one day before the officially announced date. However last year the document was released on the officially announced date, and this year too the same shall happen – the trend of releasing hall tickets one day early seems to have been eliminated.
GATE 2022 admit card releasing time
Last year i.e. in 2021, the admit card was released between 4 to 5 pm.
In the year before that, in 2020, the admit card release time was between 7 to 8 pm.
And in the year before that, which means in the year 2019, the GATE admit card was issued between 4 to 5 pm.
As can be seen from the past year data, there are higher chances of the GATE 2022 admit card to be released after 4 pm. However the final decision in this regard will be that of IIT Kharagpur.

Candidates should note that there will not be any separate link to download the GATE 2022 admit card at the official website. The link is the GOAPS itself.
The official website of GATE 2022 is gate.iitkgp.ac.in. There, under the section ‘GATE 2022 ONLINE APPLICATION’, is a link that says ‘Login’. Clicking this link will open the url gate.iitkgp.ac.in/apps.html, which is the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). One has to download the admit card of GATE 2022 from here only.
Nevertheless, after logging in, one will find a separate link to download the admit card, which will be activated only when IIT KGP has uploaded the admit card.

Candidates must check these things in the admit card –
- Personal data – Registration number, name, GATE 2022 paper > These details should be exactly as they filled in the form.
- Exam date and day
- Exam time
- Examination center name and address
- Exam day instructions
In addition, check if there is any travel pass. Last year during lockdowns, travel pass were issued with several exams to help candidates travel smoothly to their centers. One can check if such a thing has been given with the GATE 2022 admit card as well.
