Registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2021 ends on October 12, 2020. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay extended the registration from September 30 to October 8, 2020, without paying any extra charges. However, candidates registering after this date are required to pay Rs.500 as additional charges. The registration process can be done through the official website appsgate.iitb.ac.in using the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). GATE 2021 is scheduled to be conducted in February 2021 for candidates who wish to pursue postgraduate courses pertaining to technology, engineering, architecture, etc.
IIT-Bombay began the GATE 2021 application process on September 12, 2020. Initially, the last date to apply for the exam was September 30, 2020. However, the institution extended the last date to October 7 and subsequently, to October 8, 2020. After this date, candidates are given the option to apply for the exam till October 12, 2020. However, certain additional charges are applicable for these candidates on the basis of their category. These additional charges are to be paid at the time of payment for registration.
Candidates appearing for GATE 2021 with late fees have to register on their official website. After successful registration, they have to fill-up important details like personal information, exam information, address, qualification details, etc. They are also required to upload important documents like photograph, signature, Valid ID Proof, etc. The last step includes exam fee payment. Candidates shall be charged an extra Rs.500 as late fees along with the exam fee. This fee can be paid through Debit card, Credit Card or even Net Banking, according to the candidate’s preference.
For GATE 2021, General/OBC candidates have to pay Rs.2000 as exam fee instead of Rs1500 for the entrance test. SC, ST, PwD and female candidates are required to pay Rs.1250 instead of the earlier Rs.750 as examination fee. Candidates from Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu are expected to pay US $70 instead of the initial US $50 for the examination. Lastly, Dubai and Singapore candidates have to pay Us $120 instead of US $100 as examination fee.
GATE 2021 is scheduled to be conducted in 12 sessions on six different days in February 2021. The exam shall be held from February 5 to 7 and February 12 to 14, 2021, with two sessions per day to accommodate more students. GATE entrance test is conducted every year by IITs and IISc Bangalore across the country. Through this computer-based test, candidates get admission for postgraduate courses like M.Tech, M.E, M.Arch and PhD.
