Education Minister Live Today: CBSE and State Boards Class 12 Exams Will Be Cancelled or Not Decision Expected Today; Students Demand Cancellation

Education Minister is conducting a virtual meeting on May 17, 2021 discussing the Class 12th Boards Exam, COVID-19 situation, online education and NEP 2020.

Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Education, on Sunday announced the he will be organising a meeting with State Education Secretaries. Education Minister will be discussing the COVID-19 situation, online education and NEP. It is also expected that the decision on conducting the Class 12th board Exam will be taken in this meeting.

On May 16, 2021, Education Minister shared a tweet announcing a virtual meeting with the State Education Secretaries. There will be three main agendas of today’s meeting. The First will be whether it is feasible to conduct the Class 12th Boards Examination in the current scenario or not. The second agenda is based on the COVID-19 situation and online education. The third and the last agenda is the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Students of 12th Standard are keen to know the outcome of this meeting. For the past few months, Class 12th students are demanding cancellation of the 12th Boards examination. As the classes took place online, students said that it will be difficult to take the offline exam. They wanted Board to either conduct the Board exam online or cancel the exam.

With the rise in COVID-19 cases due to the second wave, there has been an increase in the number of students demanding the cancellation of the exam. They want the 12th Boards exam to be cancelled due to COVID-19. Students are also tagging the Education Minister and Prime Minister to raise their concern on Twitter with the hashtags. Some the trending hashtags are #CancelExamsSaveStudents, #cancelclass12thboardexams2021, #cancelboardexam2021 and others. Students are tweeting that they are under high pressure to appear for the Boards exam amidst the second wave of Coronavirus.

Another tweet reads that “We have high hopes that Class 12th Boards Exam will be cancelled”. A screenshot of the same is also available below.

However, CBSE has not yet decided on whether the 12th Boards exam will be postponed further or cancelled. As the class 12th Results are a stepping stone to the university admissions, Board is yet to declare its final decision. It is likely that the decision on CBSE Boards Exam 2021 will be announced today after the meeting. Earlier, the 12th Board Exam was scheduled to commence from May 04, 2021 onwards. However, Education Minister announced that the Boards Exam 2021 are postponed and the new dates will be announced after June 01, 2021.

Moreover, CBSE has already cancelled the 10th Boards Exam 2021. Several state boards and also followed the same path by cancelling postponing the Boards Exam of Class 10th and class 12th. Gujarat State Board has recently announced that the 12th Boards Exam of Gujarat State Students will definitely take place for which dates are not yet decided.
