The first-ever session of CUET has begun with the National Testing Agency (NTA) releasing the application form online, on the official website cuet.samarth.ac.in. As per the official schedule, the Common Undergraduate Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 exam is likely to be organised in the first or second week of July 2022. Interested candidates can now apply for the university entrance test. They have time up to May 06, 2022, 5:00 pm, to fill out and submit the online form.
Seeing as this is the first session of CUET, reports suggest an increase in the demand for coaching to clear the UG entrance exam. Invariably, candidates enrolled in a coaching facility are bound to have an advantage over non-coaching students. It is also safe to assume that students living in rural areas have a greater disadvantage in beating the competition. Here’s what students and experts feel with respect to coaching for CUET 2022.
CUET 2022 – What do Experts Feel?
As per the latest report published by Business Line, coaching institutes have witnessed a surge in admission after the announcement of CUET 2022 exam. The report highlights the surge in admission at a coaching institute called AaptPrep. As per an admission counsellor working at the institute –
We have at present around 8,000 students who are enrolled for CUET coaching at our centres all over India. Around 5,000 students have enrolled recently in the wake of the UGC announcement.
The announcement of CUET 2022 also coerced several coaching institutes like KD Campus and Success Mantra to provide dedicated assistance and coaching for this test. In fact, they will be starting a new batch soon, to prepare for the exam. Although preparation time is limited and batches have started late, there is no denying the surge in admission at institutes offering CUET 2022 lectures.
CUET 2022 – Opinion of Aspirants
Every year, India witnesses an increase in the number of coaching institutes for popular national-level entrance tests like JEE (Main + Advanced), NEET and CAT. A similar trend is expected to follow for the upcoming CUET examination, another national-level test responsible for admission to UG courses in central universities.
Although some students are in support of the CUET 2022 examination, others are questioning the dwindling importance of board exams. Already they are burdened with preparing for their Class 12 boards to score a good percentage. Adding to this pressure will be the stress of clearing CUET 2022, a highly-competitive exam, exclaims one aspirant.
Although coaching is important to clear a competitive exam like CUET 2022, many students cannot afford the high fees. Invariably, a money-making angle will be added to the UG entrance exam, similar to other competitive entrance tests, express aspirants.
CUET 2022 – Coaching Advantage and UGC Statement
Although there is skepticism shown by many CUET 2022 candidates, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had earlier, put out statements defending the entrance exam. As per the commission, this test neither seeks to increase admission at coaching institutes nor wishes to reduce the importance of Class 12 board exams. However, the rising demand for CUET 2022 crash courses and packages offered by coaching institutes is contradicting UGC’s statements.
Amid such contrasting opinions, it is important to know that CUET 2022 is still unknown and untapped territory. Hence, even coaching institutes are not well-versed with the exam pattern and type of questions to expect in the paper. This factor clearly reduces the “coaching advantage” rural students are worried about.
