With the ongoing lockdown extended for another two weeks, the prospects of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2020 getting postponed are now higher than ever before. CTET 2020 exam is scheduled to be conducted on July 05, 2020. As per the latest directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the COVID-19 related lockdown has been extended till May 17, 2020. If CBSE follows in the footsteps of many other government exams conducting bodies, who have postponed upcoming exam dates, then chances are very high that the CTET exam can also be postponed.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet commented or released any official statement in regards to whether the upcoming CTET exam is going to be postponed. As of now, the exam date of CTET 2020 remains unchanged and is going to be conducted on July 05, 2020, as announced before. However, now that the nation-wide lockdown has been extended for the second time since it was first imposed on March 23, 2020, there are widespread speculations as to whether CBSE might decide to postpone the CTET 2020 exam.
In a bid to tackle the widespread outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, the government ordered a complete socio-economic lockdown in March 2020. Although it was expected to be removed with improvements in the situation, the government extended the lockdown period until May 03, 2020, in the second phase. A third, phase, although undesirable has been however imposed lately as the lockdown has been extended yet again. The third phase of the lockdown is imposed for an extended period of 02 weeks and will remain effective until May 17, 2020.
A direct consequence of the Coronavirus induced lockdown in India is evident through the widespread deferment of government exams and recruitment events. As schools and colleges remain closed, there are few prospects that any examination can be possibly conducted until the ban on social gathering can be removed. All these measures have been implemented by the government in a bid to contain the spread of the deadly virus. Following somewhat similar trends, it is highly probable that the CTET exam might also get postponed.
Incidentally, almost all upcoming government recruitment exams that were scheduled to be conducted during the first half of 2020 have been either postponed or canceled. However, CBSE has refrained from rescheduling the CTET exam yet. It may not be rescheduled if the lockdown is not carried forward to the second half of the year. Yet, as there is still confusion regarding when the lockdown can be ended permanently, it is uncertain but likely that the CTET 2020 exam might also be postponed in the coming weeks.
