Cochin Shipyard Limited is inviting online applications for the engagement of Technician and Trade Apprentices under the Apprenticeship Act 1961. CSL has published a detailed notification in this regard at the official website cochinshipyard.com. A total number of 358 vacancies are advertised by CSL. Selected candidates are appointed under the Apprenticeship Act for undergoing one-year training for a fixed monthly stipend. The last date to apply online is August 04, 2020.
There are 8 seats available for Technician (Vocational) Apprentices and 350 seats available for Trade Apprentices. For each category, the vacancies are distributed across various vocational and trade disciplines. In the Trade (Vocational) category, the vacancies are distributed across the disciplines of Accounting & Taxation (1), Customer Relationship Management (2), Electrical & Electronic Technology (1), Food & Restaurant Management (3) and Basic Nursing and Palliative Care (1). On the other hand, in the second category of Trade Apprentices, the vacancies are bifurcated across disciplines such as Electrician (47), Fitter (36), Welder (47), Machinist (10), Electronic Mechanic (15), Instrument Mechanic (14), Draughtsman (Mechanic) (6), Draughtsman (Civil) (4), Painter (Genl.) (10), Mechanic Motor Vehicle (10), Sheet Metal Worker (47), Shipwright Wood (Carpenter) (20), Mechanic Diesel (37), Fitter Pipe (Plumber) (37) and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic (10).
Shortlisted candidates are to be appointed for a monthly stipend of Rs 9000 for Technician Apprentices and Rs 8000 for Trade Apprentices. To apply for the post of Technician Apprentice, candidates must have passed Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in relevant vocation. On the other hand, those wishing to apply for the post of Trade Apprentices must have passed ITI in the concerned trade. In addition, candidates must be within the age limit as per Apprenticeship Rules and have the minimum physical standards. Those who have undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act 1961 are ineligible to apply. In addition, applicants must be a domicile of the State of Kerala.
Initially, eligible applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the marks obtained in the respective qualification. Those who are shortlisted for the document verification stage must produce a copy of the online application form, original documents, and self-attested copies of such documents. Shortlisted candidates from the document verification stage are merit listed for appointment subject to their Medical Fitness. CSL is not liable to provide any travelling allowance or accommodation facility during the tenure of the apprenticeship training.
There is no application fee involved in this recruitment. Candidates must however apply online by filling up the application form provided on the website. At first, candidates have to register online under the One Time Registration process in the SAP E-Recruitment portal of CSL. Subsequently, candidates can log in to the portal and apply for the recruitment. A softcopy of the completed application form must be downloaded and printed. The copy of the application form must be preserved for the document verification stage.
