The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has released a notice regarding the list of subjects for which it will set question paper for the annual examination. The list includes subjects for class 9th and 11th for the session 2018-19.

The CISCE will set question paper for class 9th in subjects such as English Language, English Literature, History and Civics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Commercial Studies.

For class 11th, CISCE will set question paper for the following subjects: English Language, English Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, History, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Commerce, Accounts, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Science.

There are some subjects for which the papers will be set by the Schools. They will have to set the papers for following subjects: The question papers not included in the list for class 9th and 11th will be set by the subject teachers of the individual schools as it has been done since earlier times. The subjects are computer applications, economic applications and commercial applications and the vernacular subjects for Class IX annual exams.

It is to be noted that only the vernacular subject questions will be set by the council for Class XI as mentioned in the official circular released by the Council.

The CISCE had earlier announced that from the next academic session, it will set questions papers itself for core subjects of both class 9th and 11th. Earlier the respective schools used to prepare the question papers. The move has been appreciated by the affiliated city schools as it will bring uniformity and will help maintain the standard. Now no school will now be able to provide unnecessary favour to students by setting easy questions in the examination.

According to a source, students have also welcomed the decision. It will help students in preparing well for class 10th and 12th final examinations. For both classes, the CISCE will not be setting second language question papers. The answer scripts of the internal tests will be evaluated by individual schools, which will also prepare the results within a deadline prescribed by the council.

As the schools in hilly areas conduct their annual examinations in the month of November or December while at plains these are held in the month of February or March. The Council has decided to prepare two sets for each question paper, one for hills and other for plains as it is compulsory for the affiliated schools to go by the question papers set by the CISCE. A deadline will be fixed by the Council for the answer book evaluation and preparation of results by the individual schools.
