High Court of Calcutta, in its recent employment notice, has announced a recruitment drive for the 02 vacant pots of Assistant Registrar. Aspirants interested in the recruitment can download the advertisement with No. 03-R/AR (Direct Recruit)/HCOS/2020 from the official website, calcuttahighcourt.gov.in. Eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their applications through the post before October 05, 2020.
Out of the total announced vacancies, 01 is reserved for the Scheduled Caste category whereas the remaining 01 is for unreserved category. The post of Assistant Registrar is filled through direct recruitment from the Legal Profession. The appointment for Assistant Registrar is initially made on a temporary basis. However, the post is likely to get permanent in future depending upon the requirement.
For the eligibility, candidates should be a law graduate and practising advocate. They shall also have knowledge of the vernacular language of the state of the West Bengal. Candidate’s age should not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years as on January 01, 2020. Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ ST candidates of West Bengal up to 05 years.
Eligible candidates can download their application from Calcutta High Court website, calcuttahighcourt.gov.in. The filled-in application form should be delivered by hand or through the post to the Office of the Registrar Original Side (1st Floor, Main Building), High Court, Calcutta. Along with the form candidates must submit 03 recent passport size photograph, one self-addressed envelope of the size of 25 cm x 11 cm with postal stamp of Rs. 45/-, photocopies of relevant educational qualification, caste certificate, enrolment certificate, Identity Card that is issued from the Labour Deptt. Govt. of West Bengal and others.
Each applicant also has to make a payment of Rs. 700/- to submit the application form. Those who belong to SC/ ST category of West Bengal state have to pay Rs. 300/- as the fee. The fee can only be submitted by Bank draft drawn in favour of the “Registrar, High Court, Original Side, Calcutta”, payable at Kolkata.
Calcutta High Court will be conducting a competitive written test followed by interview for the selection of eligible candidates as Assistant Registrar. The competitive written examinations are conducted for 80 marks. In this stage, candidates are asked questions fro the following subjects – Original Side Rules, High Court, Calcutta, Code of Civil Procedure, Constitution of India, English Language and General Knowledge. Qualifying the first stage allows candidates to appear for the interview. Calcutta High Court organizes interview stage for 20 marks.
