Soon after the schools and colleges across the country have started to reopen, a new hashtag movement is being seen on Twitter. This time, it’s the board exam students who have a demand to place forward. Since the past few days, students and various stakeholders have been running a hashtag under the name of ‘#InternalAssessmentForAll’. Students are reluctant to appear for the upcoming board exams and as a result, want the same to be cancelled and be replaced with internal assessments.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools and educational institutions had to switch to the online mode of teaching. As a result, the online classes have been continuing for quite some time. Students now claim that they are not much familiar with the examination pattern. In other words, the quality of education that they have received via online classes has not been up to the mark and hence, offline examinations should not be conducted.
There has also been a gap of almost 02 years since offline exams were conducted for the last time. Hence, now, students are not willing to appear for offline exams as they claim that their preparation level is down. The demand for canceling the board exams is not only seen from the students belonging to CBSE and CISCE boards. Students from the state boards have also voiced the same concerns.

Support from Stakeholders
The Twitter campaign has also received support from various stakeholders including Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai. Students have claimed that when the classes were conducted in the online mode, then the exams should not be held in the offline mode. For many, the concern is over their health and safety. Many are of the opinion that the students should be provided with an alternative way for which internal assessments should be conducted.

As per reports, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of India. Sources say that through this petition, students seek an alternate mode of conducting the upcoming board exams. Students hailing from nearly 06 states have approached the apex court. One of the chief reasons behind demanding an alternative way is due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation and other difficulties faced by them in the online classes. They expect that internal assessment would suffice the need of the hour since this will not require them to take the exam physically. Now, how the Twitter movement turns out, is yet to be seen.
