This question has always been the curiosity raiser for the exam aspirants “Is it better to study in the morning or at night?“. There has also been endless debates over this as well. Well to be really honest, the answer cannot be certain and there can be any specific Yes or No answer to this question. Each individual has own method to advocate their method of study.

While studying at night time can offer silence and tranquility, day time studying offers more energy. While night time study has more room for creativity as our senses are less affected by outside distractions, day time studies also offer natural cycle of nature thus letting you engage with friends and have group studies. But we will not go on and rant about the debate and start another at length here.

Now in order to put a stop of to another debate here, we have simply chosen to share with you some benefits of studying at night time. You can also share your experiences with us by commenting in the boxes below. Let us know which method was more helpful for you.

#1 Less distractions to bother you

The biggest benefit of studying at night time is that you get the least amount of distractions at night time. This way you can concentrate more on your work. At night time, there is no traffic, hence you cannot be disturbed by the traffic noise, plus all the family members will also be asleep which eliminates bit of whispering. This is another distraction if you are not a curious person otherwise. People are more active at day time and their activities are intense. Whereas at night time, you can study in peace.

#2 Body is better equipped to study late night.

Out body is better equipped to study later at night than in the morning. Due to less blood suger in body the ability to concentrate is less in morning. For most students, or at least those who are night owls, their peak melatonin levels are around 5:30 a.m. which cause sleepiness, so at that time, anyone trying to study in the morning will have trouble focus on the material or will simply fall back asleep.

#3 More retention of Information

Night-studying results in more retained information as compared to morning study. Though its not recommend to study too late into the night, but going to bed after studying gives the ability to better process and absorb what is just learned.

#4 More Creative

If youโ€™re a night owl, you are more likely to be able to think outside the box than the rest. According to Professor Jim Horne, sleep expert, โ€œEvening types tend to be the more extrovert creative types, the poets, artists, and inventors, while the morning types are the deducers, as often seen with civil servants and accountants.โ€ For this reason, owls tend to be more successful, being linked to more prestigious jobs and higher incomes.

#5 Less activities at night compared to day

Not so ever helpful but yet impactful is the time that gets wasted in the everyday chores. For example tending to your familyโ€™s needs, or attending family functions, friends coming over to your house to discuss etc. These activities are naturally eliminated which are otherwise a great disturbance in the routine. And if you have a 24×7 library nearby then, you can choose to study late night. Studies show that night can increase our creativity and help us see concepts well. Artists have said that they work at night. Story writers work late till night.

#6 You can study without the time boundations

In day time, students have been observed to be busy attending schools, colleges, tuition and thus they get scarce amount of self-study and this also becomes the reason why concepts are left uncleared. At night time, there is no such boundation, you can spend as much time as you want trying to understanding a concept. However, lingering onto a topic for more than 2-3 hours will become exasperating. You should devote a certain amount of time to one topic. If it is not solvable despite of regular efforts. Leave it and consult your teacher at a suitable time.

Now if you are a night own studying late night here are few suggestions for to how to study late night during exams.

At night, you may lose track of the time. It is therefore really necessary to time yourself. Assign a few hours and set an alarm to remind you. Dedicate few hours to study one subject and then try to wrap it up within that time frame.

Keep special note of lighting of your room where you study. Never study in a position where light mars the view. Always study under white light where vision is clear. If possible, have your own desk where you can study at keep the night fairly bright.

When you sit for completing your task at night, you should keep in mind that you have all the things at your handโ€™s reach. For example, keep some light food items to eat nearby. And specially when winters are approaching, it is so painful to get up again and again.

Also please do not eat anything to the full. This may cause dizziness. Keep drinking in between. Itโ€™s important to keep yourself hydrating.

Just to make sure that you do not fall asleep. If you cannot continue for longer durations. Take gaps.

A change in sitting position will improve concentration. Sitting upright in one position for longer can also cause sleepiness.

I do believe in learning at night but I have 2 questions …
1)Does Studying at night means sleeping in the noon?
    2) Is tea a good way to avoid sleep?..
    …pls reply

Yes, tea is good thing to avoid sleeping. But coming to your first point I would like to suggest you to study more in the morning because in the morning our brain work more effectively and creatively. And in the early morning you may find more piece and no distraction. Complete your sleeping at least 6hrs.
