The Education Minister of Assam Ranoj Pegu has made an important announcement regarding the SEBA HSLC and AHSEC HS 2022 exams. According to the announcement, both Class 10 and 12 board exams will commence from March 15, 2022. While the Secondary Education Board, Assam High School Leaving Certificate (SEBA HSLC) refers to Class 10, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) refers to Class 12. Both board exams are scheduled to begin on the same date, through the offline mode, at affiliated schools across the state.
Several states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan have announced their dates for conducting the Class 10 and 12 board exams for the ongoing academic year 2021-22. Hence, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Assam has decided to join the list by announcing the board exam routine.
Recently, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu held talks with several officials from the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan regarding the state board exams 2021-22. During the meeting, it was decided that the exams for both Class 10 and 12 will commence in the second week of March 2022. The state education board will try to wrap them up by the first week of April 2022.
Most state and central boards are choosing to conduct their board exams during the February-March-April 2022 period. So that there is no delay in the academic activities for the upcoming year 2022-23. The country’s education system has already suffered some major shortfalls for the last two years owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Against the backdrop of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the state education minister also had another major announcement to make. Accordingly, during the media briefing, he said that a mass vaccination drive will be conducted in each and every district. During this drive, 15 schools will be targeted on a daily basis in each district to get as many students vaccinated as possible.
The central government has already given a nod to states for vaccinating individuals between the ages of 15 and 18 years. Since Class 10 and 12 students fall into this age bracket, the state government is planning on conducting this vaccination drive before the board exams. Several states including Maharashtra will also be conducting such vaccination drives starting January 2022, so that most students are vaccinated before appearing for the board exams.
If this vaccination plan works out, the Class 10 and 12 board exams 2022 will most likely be conducted in the conventional fashion i.e., through the offline, pen-paper-based format. Of course, certain changes will be introduced in the board pattern, given the current circumstances.
