The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) is going to hold the ARS 2021 mains exam on November 28, 2021. Earlier, the written exam was scheduled for September 19, 2021, but now the board has released a notice on the website, asrb.org.in regarding the rescheduling. The date for the release of the ARS 2021 Mains admit card will be announced soon on the official website.
The ARS 2021 preliminary exam has already been held from August 23 to August 27, 2021. The result for the same has been announced on the official website. The candidates who are successful in the preliminary exam will be eligible to appear in the Mains exam. As per the official brochure, the Mains exam is scheduled to be held across 12 cities as mentioned below:

- Bhubaneswar
- Coimbatore
- Delhi
- Guwahati
- Hyderabad
- Jammu
- Kolkata
- Mumbai
- Nagpur
- Patna
- Varanasi
The ARS 2021 Mains examination is a single paper accounting for 240 marks and held for a duration of 3 hours. The nature of the Mains paper is descriptive and the candidate needs to write the answers on the answer sheet. The paper is divided into three parts viz A, B and C. Part A will have forty questions each for 2 marks. In this section, the word limit to write each answer is 10 words. Part B is going to have 20 questions each accounting for 5 marks.
In this section, the candidate has two write the answer in at least one or two paragraphs. Finally, Part C is going to have 6 descriptive type questions and each question accounting for 10 marks. Only those candidates who successfully score minimum qualifying marks will be called for the viva voice rounds.
The viva voice round is the final round and the final merit list for the exam will be prepared on the basis of the marks scored in the Mains+Viva voice round. Further, if there is a tie situation between the marks of two candidates then, the following three rules will act as tie-breaker:
- The candidate having maximum marks in the ARS 2021 Mains exam will be kept on the merit list.
- In an event of a tie between the marks of two candidates, the marks scored in prelims will act as the tiebreaker. The candidate scoring high marks will be placed on the merit list.
- If the tie still persists then the seniority will act as a tie-breaker and the candidate older in age will be placed on the final merit list.
