AIIMS In Andhra Pradesh Functional by Sep 2020; 26% Progress So Far

The wave of new AIIMS in the nation is on, and in this regard, it has been notified that the new AIIMS in Andhra Pradesh for which the funds have been sanctioned in the year 2015 will be functional by September 2020.

In the phase of new AIIMS in the nation, there are 16 AIIMS that is under construction and progress. 6 of them are up and running.

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey have informed about progress status of AIIMS in the state of Anshra Pradesh. Accordingly, OPD Block & Residential Complex is 70% ready. On the other hand, the Hospital and Academic Campus is 26% complete so far.

The foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Mangalagiri Andhra Pradesh was laid in the year 2015. A fund of Rs. 1618 crore on October 07, 2015. Out of this amount, the total amount that has been spent as of now for the construction purpose is Rs. 367.7 crores.

The government has been releasing funds for the progress of the construction since 2015. For the year 2014-15, the fund that was released was Rs. 3.33 crores. In the year 2015-16, Rs. 6.67 crores were released for this purpose. Next, in the year 2016-17, the government gave out Rs. 10 crores and in the year 2017-18, the fund released was Rs. 94.62 crores. In the last year, the government has released the maximum amount of Rs. 270.92 crores.

As per the original cabinet approved timelines, AIIMS in Mangalagiri Andhra Pradesh should be functional by the year 2020 in the month of Septemeber. However, there is a delay in the physical construction process.

The hindrances that caused the delays are problems in the master plan, changing the agricultural land for utilization as the institutional land. However, apart from these problems it has been notified that the plan is progressing now and will be completed as per the cabinet approves deadlines.

After the year 2015, in the year 2017-18, there have been proposals for setting up of 88 AIIMS. Also, in the year 2018-19, 28 proposals were received and in the year of 2019-20, there have been 77 proposals.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences are premier institutes of healthcare and medical education in India. In the phase of new AIIMS in the nation, there are 16 AIIMS that is under construction and progress. 6 of them are up and running.

The functional AIIMS are in the states of  Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Rishikesh (Uttaranchal).
