The 70 year old XLRI – Xavier School of Management has taken a step towards expanding its footprint. It has decided to open the new campus in Delhi-NCR for the academic session 2020-22. Until now, the institute has been functioning from its Jamshedpur branch only.
XLRI Jhajjar campus will induct its first batch of students in June 2020. To start with, the institute shall have two sections in its PGDBM program. As a result, XAT 2020 applications will be accepted not only for the Jamshedpur campus, but also for the new Delhi-NCR campus; subject to the approval from AICTE.
The decision to set up a new campus was taken by XLRI considering India’s target leap towards becoming the world’s fifth largest economy, that will require more business leaders. After operating from a single location for such a long duration, the institute decided to establish new campuses in the northern, western, as well as southern parts of India.
To this end, the foundation stone for XLRI Jhajjar was laid on January 16, 2017. While the Archbishop of Delhi, Rev. Anil Couto blessed the foundation, it was Haryana government cabinet minister Shri Om Prakash Dhankar who had unveiled the plaque. Three years later, the campus is ready to open its doors to B School aspirants.
As per reports, the new campus will be spread over an area of 36.34 acres. It will be located 25 kilometers from Gurgaon. Its capacity will be for 240 students. 60 students will be accepted in each batch for the 2 year program. The campus has already earned gold level green building certification.
Admissions to XLRI Jhajjar, Delhi-NCR will also be through XAT, and for the coming session it will be through XAT 2020. For XAT 2020, registrations were initially supposed to end on November 30, 2019, but have now been extended to December 10, 2019. Interested candidates can apply at xatonline.in. The exam itself is scheduled for January 5, 2020 in 72 cities for BM, HR, GMP, and FPM.
Its online prospectus says “the two-year full-time Postgraduate Programme in Business Management (BM) / Human Resource Management (HRM) prepares a student for a career in industry and services”.
XAT is one of the popular management entrance exams in India. Going by the interest of MBA aspirants in XLRI, having another campus will directly benefit them by allowing them to compete in the same exam for a larger number of seats in an institute they already trust. Moreover, the strategic location of the new campus being in the national capital region, will attract a higher number of aspirants.
News feed of November was filled with updates from XLRI events CYGNUS, Ensemble Valhalla, GNOSIS, e-cafe, and National IR Summit.
The institute is known for its notable alumni Wipro CEO Abhijit Bhaduri, Unilever global senior VP Leena Nair, Accenture India chairman and senior MD Rekha Menon, Tata steel VC B Muthuraman, former CEO HCL Technologies Vineet Nayar, to name a few.
