XAT 2022 Analysis

XLRI Jamshedpur conducted the XAT 2022, the entrance exam for the admission of various MBA / PGDM courses at the Xavier School of Management and associated colleges accepting XAT scores. The exam was conducted from 9.30 a.m to 12.40 p.m today i.e. on Sunday, January 2, 2022. The first thing in hand, after the conclusion of the exam is the XAT 2022 analysis.

XAT 2022 Analysis – Exam Pattern

There were two parts – A, and B. Part A had three sections – (1) Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, (2) Decision Making, (3) Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. Part B had a single section (1) General Knowledge which included Essay Question.

A total of 101 questions were there in XAT 2022, with 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and one essay question. The Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning  section consisted of 26 questions, Decision Making had 21 questions, Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation had 28 questions, General Knowledge had 25 questions and then there was one essay question.

XAT 2022 Analysis – Difficulty Level

The question paper of XAT 2022 was very much similar to that of XAT 2021. The students who had prepared based on past year papers found the question paper doable. Also, the students who did the mock tests found the XAT 2022 question paper a moderately difficult one.

However some candidates have a different take – Some found the question paper confusing and difficult.

XAT 2022 Analysis – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

This section had 26 questions.

The section was termed as most difficult due to the complexity of the RCs and the closeness of answers.

The Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning Section had 5 Reading comprehension passages which had three questions each and two poem based RCs. The questions were moderate and easily doable for the students who prepared well. The RC passages were semi-lengthy, but dense.

Verbal Ability questions were scoring – There were 2 parajumbles, 1-3 fill in the blanks, 2-3 grammar qs.

Reading Comprehension questions – RC passages were okayish length but dense. 1 passage was on lies – it was easy. 2 poem based RC – 1st had 1 qs, 2nd had 2 qs.

XAT 2022 Analysis – Decision Making

This section had 21 questions.

The Decision Making section was tricky for almost all the candidates who attended the exam. The options given were pretty close. There were 7 sets with 3 questions each. Those who did the mock tests found the questions easy.

Most were on ethical dilemma. The passage on professor was easy.

Overall could attempt 18-20 questions if you had practiced

XAT 2022 Analysis – Quant

The Quantitative Aptitude section was easier than the XAT 2021 question paper. A candidate named Isha mentioned that the QA section was easy for her. The section was dominated by Arithmetic and Algebra questions with 7-8 Arithmetic questions and 4-5 Algebra questions. Compared to the previous years Geometry formed only a minor part with only 2 questions. The trigonometry and number questions were easier than the rest. The section was time consuming but easy to solve if concepts were clear.

The  DI was not difficult as of last year. There were 2 DI sets with 3 questions each. Candidates are of the opinion that once the logic is clear, the DI sets were easy to solve. The first set of canceled orders were easy. The second on 5 companies trajectory  was lengthy – this was meant to be a left kind of DI set which was moderate. The third set was on people coming on board was moderate to difficult.

XAT 2022 Analysis – General Knowledge

The General Knowledge section had 25 questions and had 10-12 easy questions. Out of the easy questions 5-6 questions were very easy. There were questions about South Indian movies and directors. There were static and term based GK questions. There was a question about AIR India selling to TATA.

XAT 2022 Analysis – Essay

The essay question had two options-

Option 1: Capitalism and Democracy Do Not Co-Exist.

Option 2: Management institutes focus on non risk takers being onboarded which leads to average managers.

Overall the question paper was easy to moderate. The students who prepared for the exam based on the XAT 2021 paper and had done the mock tests found the paper to be an easy one. The cutt off of the exam is expected to be high as the paper was an easy one.

The response sheet of the candidates might get released by January 4, 2022 and the official answer key by January 7.

Educators have also released the analysis of XAT 2022.
