The Supreme Court is all set to hear the plea of NEET PG 2022 postponement on February 07, 2022. The petition was filed by a group of students on the deferment of the exam date with the apex court. For those who are unaware, NBE has announced that it is going to conduct NEET PG 2022 on March 12, 2022.
However, after the Supreme Court, today overruled the plea put forth for postponing the GATE 2022 examination, uncertainty is lurking over the NEET PG 2022. From today’s verdict, it is clear that now the SC is in a no-nonsense mood. The honourable court has concluded its judgement with a remark that it shall not support mockery of students’ careers anymore. Hence, pulling out a positive verdict for the NEET PG exam can be someway difficult for the petitioner.
Having said this, another point that should not be overlooked here is that in a way the two cases are completely different from each other. GATE exam plea was heard 48 hours prior to the examination and postponing it could stir anxiety and chaos amongst the aspirants. Whereas, there is more than one month left for the NEET PG 2022 examination that adds a brownie point to the petitioner. Another point that should be considered before moving to a decision is the logic behind these pleas.
For the GATE exam, the appeal was made citing the prevalent third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and problems faced by candidates in commuting to the exam centre. However, when we talk about NEET PG 2022, the logic is completely different. Here, the petitioners are fighting for those students who could lose their chance of appearing in the examination only because, their mandatory internship period is not yet over. The second issue that NEET PG aspirants are facing is the clash of dates between the NEET PG 2022 exam and the NEET PG 2021 counselling schedule. Hence, both the matters are completely different but we cannot gloss over the fact that both of them are competitive examinations and are affecting the careers of millions of aspirants.
