Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill up 08 contractual vacancies. The vacancies are for various posts such as Scientist, Technical Officer and Field & Lab Assistant. WIHG has published an official recruitment notification in this context at the website wihg.res.in. As per the official notification of recruitment, 08 vacancies are available on a contractual basis under Glaciological Research at WIHG, Dehradun. There are 04 vacancies for the post of Scientist. In addition, 02 vacancies are available for the post of Technical Officer while 02 vacancies are available for the post of Field & Laboratory Assistant. Candidates appointed to the post of Scientist are entitled to payment of Rs 60,000 + HRA. Those who are appointed to the post of Technical Officer are entitled to the payment of Rs 40000 + HRA. Candidates appointed to the post of Field & Laboratory Assistant are entitled to payment of Rs 20,000 + HRA. The appointment is to be done on a contractual basis for a period of 01 years from the date of joining. However, the employment period is extendable at the discretion of the Institute only.
Candidates must ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility conditions before applying for the recruitment. The maximum permissible age for Scientist post is 45 years as on the date of advertisement. Applicants must have a 1st Class M.Sc. degree and five years of experience in the field of Glaciology. Candidates within the age of 40 years can apply for recruitment to the post of Technical Officer provided that they have an M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. qualification along with 05 years of technical experience in the field of Glaciology. Candidates having a Graduate degree or a 03 years Diploma in any discipline are eligible to apply for the post of Field & Laboratory Assistant. No experience is essential to apply for this post although the age of the applicants cannot be more than 35 years. The selection of the eligible applicants is to be done on the basis of merit record, qualifications, experience and other requirements of the Institute. WIHG might adopt shortlisting criteria if the number of applicants is large. Such shortlisting may be done on the basis of Desirable Qualifications, Higher Qualification, Higher Experience, Post Qualification experience, recruitment test etc.
