VITEEE 2018 Exam Begins; 2.12 Lakh Students Appearing For Exam

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) begins their entrance examination (VITEEE 2018) for various UG engineering courses being offered by the institute’s campus located in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati. The examination commenced on April 04, 2018 and will go on until April 15, 2018. This is a Computer Based Test (CBT) which is being conducted across 175 centres in India, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat and Qatar.

As per an official statement issued by the institute, it has been revealed that this year, a total of 2.12 lakh stuldents have registered for the admission test. VIT Chancellor G. Viswanathan said innovative courses offered by the university had attracted a record number of students not only from across the country but also from other countries. VIT University will announce VITEEE 2018 Result on or before April 27.

VITEEE 2018 received a record number of registrations. Out of this 2.12 lakh registrations, the highest number of applicants are from Andhra Pradesh with a total of 33,319 applications. This is followed by 23,664 applicants from Uttar Pradesh, 20,377 from Maharashtra, 18,937 from Telangana and 16,824 from Tamil Nadu.

The registration received from other cities include 16,678 applications from Hyderabad, 12,929 from Delhi, 12,881 from Vijayawada, 8,431 from Kota, 7,879 from Chennai, 2,358 from Bhopal and 2,515 from Vellore. The registration forms were made available online as well as was distributed from various post offices across India.

VITEEE 2018 is conducted to intake students in 18 B.Tech and other undergraduate programmes offered at Vellore, seven B.Tech. programmes at Chennai, three B.Tech. programmes at Bhopal and four B.Tech. programmes at Amaravathi. All the admissions will be done on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the entrance test.

The test is being conducted in three sessions: From 9 am to 11.30 am, 12.30 pm to 3 pm and 4 pm to 6.30 pm. The candidates were to choose their examination slots like test centre, date and time for giving the exam. The slot booking process was done via the VIT Online Test Booking System (OTBS) from 21 – 24 March 2018.

The results of VITEEE 2018 will be released on the official website http://www.vit.ac.in by the end of this month. Last year the Results were declared on April 24, 2018.

VIT offers scholarship facility in the form of fee waiver to those candidates who obtain ranks 1 to 50 in VITEEE. Such candidates are provided with 75 percent fee waiver. Also, the candidates who rank between  51 to 100 are offered 50 percent waiver and those who rank 101 to 1000 are given 25 percent waiver for the entire course period under G V School Development Programme.

For the admission process, the institute usually conducts two rounds of counselling. The admission done by the institute is strictly based on VITEEE ranks.
