The Union Public Service Commission has announced the final results of the Civil Services Exam, 2019. The result has been released on the official UPSC website i.e. upsc.gov.in in the form of a merit list of selected candidates. Accordingly, 829 candidates have been shortlisted by the Commission for appointment into the IAS, IFS, IPS and Central Services. Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’. Reportedly, UPSC earlier declared 896 vacancies for the Civil Services 2019 examination which are to be filled up by the shortlisted candidates. Concerned candidates, who appeared in the Civil Service 2019 written examinations and the subsequent Personality Tests held during the period of February to August 2020 can check the result at the official website as mentioned above. The final marks are scheduled to be published 15 days from the date of declaration of the results.
The final merit list of selected candidates is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the written part of the Civil Services Examination 2019 that was held in September 2019 and the marks obtained in the Personality Tests that were held in February-August, 2020. Accordingly, the list of 829 shortlisted candidates is published by the UPSC who will be appointed to fill up the 896 advertised vacancies in the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’. Among these 829 candidates, 304 are General, 78 are EWS, 251 are OBC, 129 are SC, and 67 are ST candidates. A consolidated reserve list of 182 candidates is also maintained by the Commission in compliance with Rule 16 (4) & (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules 2019.
The detailed breakdown of the vacancies available in various services is also provided. Compared to the 896 vacancies advertised in the official notification of Civil Services Examination 2019, the final results indicate a total of 927 vacancies. There are 180 vacancies for the IAS, 24 for the IFS, 150 for the IPS, 438 for Central Service Group ‘A’, and 135 Group ‘B’ Services.
UPSC has also indicated the roll numbers of 66 recommended candidates whose candidature is provisional while the result of 11 candidates has been kept withheld. The roll number and name of the 829 shortlisted candidates are however provided in the final merit list and concerned candidates can check the same from the merit list available for download from the website of the UPSC.
UPSC also has provisions of a “Facilitation Counter” near Examination Hall in the campus from where, candidates can retrieve information/clarification regarding various UPSC examinations. Such information can be obtained from the “Facilitation Center” during working days between 10.00 AM to 05.00 PM in person.
