UP College Exam News Decision Announced; UG/PG 2nd-3rd year Exams by 15 August, MCQ Papers of Shorter Duration

The UP government has also decided to directly promote the first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students without conducting any final exams with the upcoming academic year commencing from September 13, 2021.

Uttar Pradesh college exams for second and third-year students for the academic year 2020-21 shall be conducted by August 15, 2021. Along with undergraduate final exams, postgraduate students shall also be given their final exams around the same time. Detailed examination schedule shall be announced in due course of time by the respective colleges. According to the announcement made in the regard yesterday, June 08, 2021, the exams shall comprise of multiple-choice questions for a shorter duration i.e., one and half hour instead of three hours. The official notification regarding this shall also be released soon by the university authorities.

Dr. Dinesh Sharma, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, tweeted about the university exams yesterday. According to the tweet, university shall be conducting the UG second- and third-year exams as well as PG final-year exams on or before mid-August i.e., August 15, 2021. Certain changes have also been introduced in the paper pattern to simply the examination process. Accordingly, the exam shall be OMR Based, comprising of MCQs. These objective-type questions along with detailed questions will invariably, reduce the exam duration.

Usually, the university exams are theory-based and are conducted for a duration of 3 hours. However, under the current circumstances, the Uttar Pradesh University authorities had no choice but the introduce these changes. Rather than cancelling the exam altogether, the duration of exams has been reduced to one-and-half hours.

Apart from this, the deputy CM also stated that the viva-voce for UP College Exams 2021 shall be conducted through the online mode. Practical exams shall not be conducted this year. Hence, marks for this segment shall be given based on the student’s performance in the written test. In case a student is affected by COVID-19, he/she shall be given a separate opportunity to appear for the exams. Furthermore, opportunities shall also be given to students for improving their marks.

The deputy CM further assured students that the college exams shall be conducted, keeping the COVID-19 guidelines in mind. Students have been further advised to check their college or university website consistently to get their queries resolved. Rather than believing rumours, they have been instructed to check the website for important updates.

While second- and third-year university exams shall be conducted, the UP government has decided to promote all first-year undergraduate and postgraduate university students without conducting any exams. The new academic session 2021-22 for such students is scheduled to commence from September 13, 2021, announced Mr. Sharma. A detailed notice regarding the same shall be issued soon by university authorities. As per reports, approximately 41 lakh students are currently enrolled in UP universities.
