UP board class 10 and 12 exams 2021 have been postponed and not cancelled. After CBSE and other central / state boards cancelled class 10th exams, the word spread that UP board exams have also been scrapped. However, for now, Uttar Pradesh State Government has only postponed the examinations. Apart from this, state government has also decided to close schools until May 15, 2021.
The decision has been taken in light of increasing number of COVID-19 cases. The new date sheet for UP board exams 2021 is expected to release in May. The state government will first review the situation and will then decide the new dates.

It is also possible that the exams might be cancelled, if the situation don’t get better. UP school education minister had already announced that class 1 to 8 students of UP government schools will be directly promoted to the next class, without having to appear for the exams. Also, various boards have cancelled exams for class 10. So, it is possible that UP board might also do the same but this is not confirmed yet.
This is the second time, when UP board exam 2021 have been postponed. Earlier, the exams were postponed due to Gram Panchayat Elections. Initially, the exams were scheduled to be held from April 24 but were pushed back in May. Then, UP board class 10, 12 board exams 2021 were supposed to start from May 8, 2021, onwards. However, now that the exams have been postponed only time will tell when exams will be held.
This year, a total of 56,03,813 students enrolled for the UP board exams 2021 as against 56,07,118 students last year. It has been observed that for the past two years, the number of exam takers for the state is in a sliding mode. In the year 2019, 57.95 lakh students had registered for the board exams, while in 2018, the students enrolled were 66.39 lakh (66,39,268).
After CBSE, many other state boards including Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, etc have decided to postpone the board examinations 2021. State boards like Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, etc have decided to cancel the class 10th board examinations. On the other hand, the other boards said they were monitoring the situation and are yet to decide whether to go ahead with the board exams. For example, the Karnataka board said that it will conduct the examinations as per the schedule, moreover, the Meghalaya board too said it is ready to hold the state board exams for class 12, however, it will soon take a decision on class 10 exams after a review of the situation is completed.
