Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is going to conduct the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2021 on January 17, 2021. Admit cards for the same shall be made available for download on January 01, 2021. Registered candidates can download their admit cards from the official website i.e., uceed.iitb.ac.in. Through this entrance exam, qualified candidates can get admission in prestigious institutes in India for pursuing undergraduate courses in the field of design. With just a few days left for the exam, here is a brief description of the syllabus and exam pattern of the entrance test.
UCEED 2021 question paper shall be divided into two parts- Part A and Part B. Part A shall comprise of questions related to topics like visualization and spatial ability, observation and design sensitivity, environment and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity and, design thinking and problem solving. Part B shall contain one question pertaining to drawing. Evaluation of this question shall be done based on parameters like quality, composition, proportion, perspective and shading.
The entrance test shall be of 3 hours duration and carry a total of 300 marks. Out of 300 marks, 240 marks are from Part A and the remaining 60 marks are from Part B. The question in the paper shall only be displayed in the English language. As mentioned above, the paper will be divided into two parts. Parts A shall comprise of three types of questions – numeral answer-type (NAT), multiple select questions (MSQs) and multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
UCEED 2021 Part A is a computer-based test comprising of 18 NATs, 18 MSQs and 32 MCQs. Each NAT question is allotted 4 marks while there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Each MSQ is allotted 4 marks while 0.19 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates shall be awarded 4 marks for each MSQ only if all correct options are selected. Each MCQ is allotted 3 marks while 0.71 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. Part A of the question paper shall be of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration.
Part B of UCEED 2021 shall be of 30minutes duration and for a total of 60 marks. It shall contain only one question testing the drawing ability of the candidates. Marks for this question shall be awarded to the candidate based on subjective evaluation. Candidates must also note that Part A marks shall be used for shortlisting candidates while Part B marks shall be calculated only for the shortlisted candidates. Students must also note that IIT-Bombay has not given any provision of re-evaluation for UCEED 2021.
