Out of the top colleges in the state ost of them take admission based on the national level engineering entrance examination – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is conducted by NTA twice year and in online mode. 10+2 qualified candidates are eligible to appear in the exam. The qualifying candidates are then, via a counselling process, are admitted in the NITs, IIITs or the CFTIs. The top candidates of the JEE Main, are allowed to appear in JEE Advanced that is conducted by one of the IITs on a rotational basis. The candidates who qualify the JEE Advanced examination are allowed admission in the IITs.
In Delhi University, admission to Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is done on the basis of the DASA scheme. In addition to that, for PG admissions GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores are also considered. Colleges under DU intake admission on basis of entrance exam/ qualifying exam merit/via personal interview.
Few of the private colleges in the state that offer engineering courses are Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering and Amity School of Engineering and Technology. These colleges intake admission based on the student’s performance in the college’s own entrance examination. Amity University conducts Amity JEE for admission and Bharati Vidyapeeth conducts BVP CET for admission in UG engineering courses.
Deciding Which College To Opt For Admission
The admission season is currently on and most of the private and government institutes have started the 2019-20 admission process. The government institutes like the IITs, NITs, CFTIs, and DU in Delhi NCR is depending on the national level entrance exam like JEE Main, JEE advanced or their own admission process to fill their seats. No sugar coating here, but the admission to these colleges come under the tough category.
Reasons being the admission is offered against a limited number of engineering seats, the cutoff is sky high, and the placement opportunities in these colleges are immense after the completion of the respective courses mainly 4 years of B.Tech. Thus, the candidates looking forward to taking admissions in these colleges must ensure that they are cracking the national level examination or are well prepared to stand a chance against the immense competition.
Now, if there is a doubt in the above scenario the doors of the private colleges are open. However, the competition is no less here. The seats offered are limited here too, but are comparatively more in number. The placement opportunities are high here too and the competition in the entrance exam is also higher.
However, comparing with the above scenario, the candidates appearing in the national level examination are much larger as compared to candidates appearing for the university level entrance examination. Thus, the chances of admission in private universities increase by a great deal.
