All affiliated colleges of TNTEU shall follow a common set of guidelines for 2019-2020 B.Ed admission.

TNTEU B.Ed Admission 2019

Tamilnadu Teachers Education University has released the B.Ed admission 2019-2020 guidelines and application form. Students interested in pursing Bachelor of Education from TNTEU can fill the admission application form and submit it with requisite fee. Admission guidelines for all government, government aided, self-financing colleges of education are common. 

The official website of TNTEU is tnteu.ac.in, where, one pdf file on B.Ed degree admission guidelines, and another for application form have been published. To apply, students have to fill details in the form, attach xerox copies of all documents asked for, and submit it so as to reach the office before last date.

Details to fill in the form are college code, college name, candidate’s name in English and Tamil, date of birth, gender, whether you belong to Tamil Nadu or not, medium of instruction in B.Ed programme, religion, visually challenged or not, differently abled or not, name of father, name of mother, name of guardian, address. 

In addition educational qualification including SSLC and +2 (HSC) register number, year of passing, and boards have to be filled. Also UG degree qualification major, year of passing, part-III and IV marks obtained and their maximum marks, and percentage need to be entered. B.Tech candidates need to enter major, year of passing, CGPA, and percentage. 

One has to also write pedagogy subject chosen in B.Ed, PG degree qualification details same as asked for UG. Documents to be attached with the form are photocopies of mark sheets, co-curricular activity certificates, community certificate. 

There are nineteen major subjects. Subject codes 01 to 10 are respectively Tamil / Urdu, English, Mathematics, Physical Science (Physics), Physical Science (Chemistry), Biological Science (Botany), Biological Science (Zoology), History, Geography, Computer Science. Subject codes 11 to 19 are respectively Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Logic, Indian Culture, Philosophy. 

The subjects of code 1 to 10 are taught in high school level, and thus required qualification for them is UG degree in a relevant subject in which minimum marks obtained is 50% for OC, 45% for BC/BC(M), 43% for MBC / DNC, 40% for SC / SC (A) / ST. This minimum marks requirement will not apply to candidates who have PG degree in same subject with at least 50% marks. However, the weightage for higher qualification is then not applicable for such candidates and the marks in PG degree alone will be taken to arrive at rank.

For subject codes 11 to 19, qualification requirement is PG with 50%, subject to the condition that major subject in UG and PG should be same. 

Aspirants with B.Tech / BE degree with 55% marks are also eligible for B.Ed admission. 

Reservation of seats is defined by the guideline, that is “15% for SC and 3% for SCA, 1% for ST, 20% for MBC and DNC, 26.5% for BC and 3.5% for BCM, 31% for OC.” Here SC means scheduled caste, SCA means scheduled castes arunathiyars, ST means scheduled tribe, MBC refers to most backward classes, DNC refers to denotified communities, BC are backward classes, BCM are backward classes muslims, OC is open competition.

The guidelines further specify, “at the time counselling the candidates belonging to OC / BC / MBC / DNC category have to submit a demand draft for Rs 2000 and SC / ST category for Rs 1000 as counselling fee. The DD should be drawn in favour of The Secretary, Tamil Nadu B.Ed Admission., Chennai. This amount will be adjusted towards the tuition fee”.

Whereas the guidelines also specify that the cost of application as “The cost of application is Rs 500. In case of SC / ST candidates the cost of application is Rs 250 on production of attested xerox copy of the community certificate. The cost of application must be paid either in cash or in the form of demand draft drawn from any nationalized bank / scheduled bank in favour of The Secretary, Tamil Nadu B.Ed Admission., Chennai, payable at Chennai”.

Ranking for subject codes 01 to 10 will be on basis of percentage of marks obtained in part III and part IV of UG degree. Percentage of marks in PG degree will be used for admission to codes 11 to 19. Weightage for highest qualification in same subject will be given as per point number V 2 (i) of the guidelines. Candidates will get 4 marks for PG for subject codes 1 to 10, 5 marks for M.Phil, 6 marks for PhD. They will not get any mark for PG for codes 11 to 19, 1 mark for M.Phil, and 2 marks for PhD. 3 marks will be given for participation in any of the co-curricular activities cited by TNTEU B.Ed admission 2019 notification.
