Directorate of Government Examination (DGE) Tamil Nadu has announced the class 12th public exam results today. Results have been announced on the following websites – tnresults.nic.in, dge1.tn.nic.in and dge2.tn.nic.in. In case of poor connectivity or network issues, class 12 students can also check their results via SMS facility or using the TN Board’s official mobile application. Just like the other state boards that have recently declared results, TN too has witnessed a jump in numbers.
The pass percentage is 99.79%, which is significantly higher than past years. To put the number into perspective, the pass percentage last year was 92.3%. In 2019, it was 91.3%, and in 2018 it was 91.1%.
This year, a total of 7,64,593 students have passed the general course whereas 51,880 students have passed the vocational courses. Therefore, a total of 8,16,473 students have successfully passed the Class 12 state board exams out of the total 8,18,129 students who registered. 1,656 students were absent for their respective assessments.
Authorities have also declared the number of students who have scores within a particular range of marks. In total, 39,679 students have scored between 551-600 whereas 1,67,133 candidates have managed to score between 501-550. A total of 2,22,522 students have scored between 451-500 marks. However, no student has managed to score full marks in the Class 12 board exams within the state of Tamil Nadu.
Approximately 39,000 private students along with students who are not satisfied with their results and absentees are required to register for the physical exams. These exams shall be held when the pandemic situation becomes conducive, as stated in an official statement. These physical exams shall most likely be conducted in September or October 2021.
What is the stream-wise performance of students?
In the arts stream, as many as 35 students managed to score within the range of 551 to 600 in the class 12 state board exams. According to the official data, 8,909 students in the commerce stream have scored between 551 to 600 marks. However, the Science stream has managed to overtake both streams by a landslide with 30,600 students scoring between 551-600 marks. In the case of vocational students, a total of 136 students managed to score between 551-600 marks in the exam.
Overview of provisional mark sheet and results
Tamil Nadu Class 12 board exam results for the academic year 2020-21 were announced today at 11:00 pm. results have been made available on three official websites – 1. tnresults.nic.in, 2. dge1.tn.nic.in and 3. dge2.tn.nic.in. Results were curated based on a 50:20:30 formula devised by the DGE. Accordingly, 50% weightage has been given to Class 10, 20% to Class 11 and the remaining 30% to Class 12.
The Education Minister stated that the evaluation committee had come up with different methodologies to assess Class 12 students. To ensure that all students are assessed in a fair manner, a suitable methodology was selected. While the board has announced the Class 12 results today, the provisional marksheet will be issued on July 22, 2021.
