A decision in favour of the TET candidates is announced recently by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Validity of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) certificate is now increased from 07 years to lifetime. Earlier, the TET certificate was valid a limited period after which aspirants had to take the examination again and get a certificate. Candidates can visit the NCTE website (ncte.gov.in)to get the official notification regarding the extension of TET certificate validity period.
Recently, 50th meeting of General Body of National Council for Teacher Education was held, where the agenda to extend the validity of TET certificate was discussed. Vineet Joshi, who is the serving Chairman of NCTE, came up with the decision to extend the validity period of the Teacher Eligibility Test certificate. The Council has now extended the effectiveness of TET certificate to lifetime period. This provision is applicable to all the upcoming TET examinations.
In addition, the Council will also look into the matter of the candidates who have already cleared the TET exam in the past. The validity of the TET certificate of such candidates will be decided only after having the legal opinion from the experts. As per the notification, the Council will first take legal opinion and then act accordingly. TET passed candidates are suggested to keep tracking NCTE website, ncte.gov.in.
Earlier, candidates have to appear again after 07 years to get the TET eligibility, which is no more required now, hence making the things easy for them. Afterwards, they had to appear for TET examination again and qualify the same to be eligible to apply for various teaching posts. Now, candidates are free from such hectic and complicated procedure. As per the present circumstances, the aspirant has to appear for TET exam and then they can apply for teaching vacancies lifetime with one TET certificate.
TET exam or commonly known as Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted to provide eligibility to candidates to apply for various teaching vacancies. On qualifying TET exam, aspirants are awarded TET certificate using which they can apply for various teaching posts in central or state-affiliated schools. Every year lakhs of aspirants appear for this examination to get recruited as Primary Teacher/ Upper Primary Teacher/ Post Graduate Teacher. Moreover, the most famous of TET exam is Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET) which is national level examination. Apart from that, there are also state-specific TETs, such as UPTET, HPTET, APTET, PSTET, TNTET and many more.
