Delhi University has released first and second cutoff list for admission session 2020-21. As per the latest update, so far 65% seats in DU have been filled. Out of the total 70,000 seats, 35,500 seats were occupied under the first cutoff list. Then after the release of the 2nd cutoff list, 6,024 new applications were received and 8422 students have paid fees to complete the admission process. Thus, a total of 46,000 DU seats have been occupied by October 20, 2020.

Lady Shri Ram College has announced 100% cutoff for 3 courses, which are BA (H) Economics, BA (H) Political Science, and BA (H) Psychology. However, under the first cutoff, the college saw no admission in BA (H) Economics. But the other 2 courses have their 23 seats filled. 20 students took admission in BA (H) Political Science and 3 students got into BA (H) Psychology.

Lady Shri Ram College receives no admission in BA (H) Economics this year despite being one of the most sought after course for admission last year, is a surprise. The principal of the college, Suma Sharma, has quoted “We has received around 25 application under the first cutoff list for Economics (Hons.). But we had to reject them all as they did not meet the cutoff. It’s surprising.”

It has also been reported an official source that the cutoff has been kept 100% for BA (H) Economics as last year this course had over admission. Every year the college witnesses a rush against the admission in this course, with no admission this year, the authorities are taken aback.

For admission in under the second list all colleges of DU, including Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College, have dropped their cutoff percent from 0.5% to 1%. LSR has dropped 2nd cutoff by 1% for BA (H) Economics and by 0.5% for admission in BA (H) Political Science and BA (H) Psychology.

On day 2 of admission under the 2nd cutoff list as many as 4882 students have applied for admission across 61 colleges under DU, of them 6024 applications have been approved.

Also, many colleges have been witnessing withdrawal of admission. For instance, out of the 400 students who took admission in Aurobindo college between Monday and Tuesday evening, 200 have taken their admissions back.

In Ramdas college, 60 to 70 students have withdrawn their admissions in the last 2 days, but over 240 new students have enrolled. Similarly in Aryabhatta College, 40 students withdrew their admissions but 192 students have taken admission.

Today, October 21, 2020, is the last date to apply for admission under the 2nd cutoff list. The 3rd cutoff list of DU will be coming up on Saturday, October 24, 2020. The cutoff list will be available on du.ac.in.
