Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata and Film and Television Institute of India, Pune conducts Joint Entrance Test (JET) for admission in Post Graduate courses offered by them. The registration for JET 2020 is open and the last date to apply is January 24, 2020. The application form is available at applyadmission.net/jet2020/.
The selection of the candidates against the PG courses is based on JET score followed by an interview by FTII, Pune/ SRFTI, Kolkata.
JET 2020 will be held in 3 sessions in all, over 2 days. On February 15, 2020, the exam will be held in the afternoon session only and on February 16, 2020, the exam will be held in 2 sessions – morning and afternoon. The exam time for both the session will be announced soon. The exam will be held at a national level across 27 exam cities.
The candidates who have qualified bachelor’s degree or are in the final year of their graduation can apply for JET 2020.
To apply for admission in SRFTI and FTII in PG courses, candidates have to register first at applyadmission.net/jet2020/, fill the application form, upload the scanned images, select the course of study, make payment online and print the application form.
The application fee can be paid via the online modes only i.e. debit card/credit card. The application fee is Rs. 4000 for the general category candidates applying for any one course under group A/B/C. For any 2 courses under A & B or B & C or C & A, the fee is Rs. 8,000. For 3 courses each from A, B and C candidates have to pay Rs. 10,000.
Note that the PG courses offered for admission are divided into 3 groups – A, B, and C. Group A courses are Producing for Film and Television, Animation Cinema, Art Direction & Production Design, Screen Acting, and Screen Writing.
Group B courses are Direction and Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Editing, and Sound recording & Design.
Group C courses are Direction & Producing, Direction, Cinematography, Electronic Cinematography, Editing, Video Editing, Sound for Electronic and Digital Media, Sound Recording and Television Engineering, Electronic and Digital Media Management and Writing for Electronic and Digital Media.
On February 15, in the afternoon session, JET will be held for admission in producing for film and television course and animation cinema course offered at SRFTI. Also, on the same day JET is to be held for admission in FTII in art direction & production design, screen acting and screen writing.
On the very next day, February 16, 2020, in the morning session, candidates have to appear for JET 2020 for admission in direction and screenplay writing, cinematography, editing and sound recording & design offered at both SRFI and FTII.
The entrance exam for all other remaining courses will be also held on February 16, 2020, in the afternoon session.
Joint Entrance Test 2020 will be held for a total of 100 marks, which will be further sub-divided into 30 marks for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 70 marks for Descriptive Answers. The mode of the exam will be offline, candidates have to mark their answers in an OMR sheet.
SRFTI, or Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, is located in the stet of West Bengal. This institute is named after the legendary film maestro Satyajit Ray. It is one of the largest stand-alone film school campuses in the world. On the other hand, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) was set up by the Government of India in 1960. It is fully aided by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
