Purnea University, Bihar, announced the result of UG entrance exam 2019 at dac.purneauniversity.com on Saturday. Students can check their results by logging in with roll number. Selected candidates need to do their nominations from August 6 to 17, 2019, in allotted colleges.
As per notification released by Purnea University, as per instructions of Vice Chancellor Professor Sajesh Singh, Pr Vice Chancellor Professor Rajnath Yadav presided over declaration of entrance result for undergraduate admissions 2019-20 by examination controller Shri Binay Kumar Singh. On this occassion, Dean of Sciences Professor BN Pandey, Dean of Humanities Professor Gauri Kant Jha, Deputy Registrar (Education) Dr Manoj Kumar, Deputy Registrar (Administration) Dr JPN Vikartan, Professor CK Yadav, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Singh were also present.
Purnea University has 42,331 seats for UG admissions. On July 7, 2019, entrance exam was held for the same, which some newspapers claimed to be the largest entrance exam in the state. Over 60,000 candidates had applied for the exam. This is the first time that admissions to the varsity are taking place on basis of entrance exam.
There are 9,300 seats for science streams, and 9,801 seats for commerce streams. Around 5,000 have applied for science and commerce streams.
350 Applicants were from neighboring states Assam and West Bengal. There were 31 male and 24 female applicants from Maldah, 105 male and 26 female applicants from Raiganj, 32 males and 63 female test takers were from Siliguri. A handful of applicants were also from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jharkhand.
Maximum applicants are for Arts; over 40,000 applications were received for the same. For part one admission, 23,220 seats have been defined in 31 colleges. 22,194 are male applicants and 18,162 are female applicants.
Purnea University UG entrance exam 2019 was organized in four districts Purnea, Araria, Katihaar, Kishanganj. There were 5 centres in Kishanganj namely Marwadi college, Ratan Kali Shah College, MJM Medical College, KCET College, Nehru College Bahadurganj. In Araria, there were 8 centres namely Araria College, MLDPKVI College, Alshams Millia College, CKM Law College, YNP College Raniganj, KD College Raniganj, Forbesganj College, JDSS College Forbesganj.
Recently, Purnea University closed applications for seventeen self financing courses Master of Physical Education, M. Sc. in Food Science and Technology, M. Sc. in Molecular Breeding, P.G. Diploma in Green House Technology, M. Sc. in Fisheries Science, M. Sc. in Bioinformatics, M. Sc. in GIS and Remote Sensing, M.Sc. in Horticulture and Landscape, P.G. Diploma in Astrology and Palmistry, P.G. Diploma in Election Strategy and Political Leadership, Master of Arts in Gandhian Thought, Master in Library and Information Science, P.G. Diploma in Business and Entrepreneurship, Master in Company Secretary, Master of Business Administration, P.G. Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering, LL.M.
Purnea University consists of 13 constituent colleges, 33 affiliated colleges including B.Ed, Engineering, Management and Medical institutions spread across Purnea Division.
