As the cloud of uncertainty continues to hurl over conducting Class 12 Exams, reports suggest that the Punjab Government is considering holding PSEB Class 12 Exams for only three major subjects. Vijay Singla, Education, and PWD Minister, Punjab Government in his virtual interaction with the Union Ministers, suggested that if they wish to conduct Class 12 Examinations, the exam for three elective subjects should be held. He also emphasized on the security and safety of students and teachers during these difficult times.

School Education Minister, Mr. Singla was quoted saying from his official Twitter account, “Punjab Govt is committed to ensuring the safety of students & teachers in these pandemic times. Put forth my views on the Centre prioritizing safety & considering taking exams for only 3 elective subjects for class XII, during a virtual meeting with Union Ministers”.

The tweet came hours after the state education minister attended the meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, accompanied by Union Minister for Education Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Smriti Irani, and Prakash Javdekar. School Education Secretary Krishan Kumar and Punjab School Education Board Chairman Prof. Yograj were also present in the meeting.

How can Class 12 Exams be conducted?

The sudden surge in the number of coronavirus cases led to the cancellation of CBSE Class 10 Examinations and the postponement of CBSE Class 12 Examinations. Apart from CBSE, many state boards including the PSEB also canceled their class 10 Exams and postponed Class 12 Exams.

Now, in the latest update, since the Central Board of Secondary Education stands firm on the decision to conduct Class 12 Exams, the central government has asked for a detailed suggestion from states over the same by May 25. The Punjab Govt has suggested conducting exams of 3 major subjects from each stream.

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) can conduct Class 12 Exams next month i.e. in June 2021. Hindustan Times reported PSEB Chairman Yograj saying, “Though we are yet to decide on the dates due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will be holding the exams for three compulsory subjects in each stream. The question papers are ready and answer sheets have been made available across 2,600 centers for the exams.” He added, “We will ensure social distancing at every exam center”.

Class 5,8 and 10 results released by PSEB

PSEB has already announced the results for its class 5, 8, and Class 10 students. The Board announced the results for class 8 and 10 on May 17 while the results for class 5 were released on May 24, 2021.

The Result of the students of Class 8 was prepared on the basis of continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE) while the internal assessment was taken into consideration to announce the results of Class 10.
