Punjab & Haryana High Court Postpone Clerk Recruitment Computer Test

Society for Centralized Recruitment of Staff in Subordinate Courts (SSSC) has officially deferred the computer tests for Punjab and Haryana High Court Clerk recruitment. SSSC earlier scheduled the date of the test to be held during the last week of April 2020. However, a recent notice, published at the official website says that the test is postponed as of now. The news of postponement comes in as a response against the nation-wide lockdown imposed by the Government to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic in India. Scroll down below to see the postponement notice released by the SSSC.

SSSC is the recruitment body operating under the governance of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Earlier in 2019, the society notified the program for the recruitment of 352 clerks in the respective High Courts. It also conducted a written examination for the preliminary selection of candidates for recruitment. The written exam was conducted in the month of May 2019. Subsequently, qualifying candidates were notified about their selection to appear in the next stage i.e. the Computer Proficiency Test. The CPT, as it is commonly referred to, was scheduled to be conducted between 24 to 26 April 2020. As per the latest updates, admit cards for the CPT were also made available for download from the website but it appears that the download link has been temporarily removed from the website.

As of now, the CPT for the recruitment of 352 Clerks at Punjab and Haryana High Court stands postponed until the SSSC issues further orders. Evidently, the decision comes in as a response to the extension of the country-wide lockdown until at least May 03, 2020. A number of government recruitment exams were canceled/postponed indefinitely during the first quarter of the current year due to the adverse effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The deadly COVID-19 virus outbreak pushed the entire country into a 21 days lockdown during the initial stage. Consequently, recruitment bodies were pushed to respond by postponing ongoing and upcoming events. Although many recruiters waited for sometime before postponing events out of hopes of the lockdown to be removed after the initial phase. However, as of now situations remain far from normal and the Prime Minister recently ordered the extension of the lockdown period till the specified date.

The SSSC has not commented on when the CPT might be rescheduled. However, the official notice mentions that fresh dates of the CPT can be expected in due course of time. Applicants awaiting the exam are advised to keep a close eye on the official website of the SSSC i.e. sssc.gov.in to know the new dates when they are announced.
