Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh has broken its silence on the delayed PGIMER 2020 MD/MS entrance exam results. The latest notice at pgimer.edu.in says that the result will be announced on December 9, 2019. It may be noted that the date for declaration of result, as per prospectus, was supposed to be yesterday that is December 6, 2019.
The institute level post graduate medical entrance exam for MD and MS programs, for admission to the January 2020 session was conducted for all India students on November 30, 2019, in 13 cities all over India. Admission to MD/MS is only merit cum preference based.
Today’s notice regarding the results says “It is hereby informed to all the candidates who have appeared in MD/MS entrance test held on 30th November, 2019 that the result of the entrance test will be displayed at PGI official website on 09th December, 2019 (Monday).”
The reason behind this delay is unclear. However as mentioned in our morning report on the same, a technical glitch could be behind this delay.
PGI Chandigarh will publish list of eligible and ineligible candidates for counselling. Those in the eligible list will be asked to come for the counselling rounds that commence less than two weeks from now.
Round 1 of counselling is slated to happen on December 20, 2019. Then round 2 will be on January 10, 2020. Thereafter round 3 shall happen on January 18, 2020. Round 4 will be the last round, it will be the spot admission process through open counselling on January 30, 2020. Admission to MD/MS courses will close on January 31, 2020.
Candidates who get selection will get an admission letter with their joining date. The institute clearly states that those who fail to join by that date shall not get admission, and their admission will be cancelled.
MD/MS junior residents will be on contract service for a period of 3 years, and shall have to execute an agreement and undertaking to that effect. A penalty of Rs 1 lakh will be levied on those who resign within 6 months of joining. And those who leave after 6 months will be penalized for Rs 5 lakh.
PGIMER MD/MS entrance exam for Jan 2020 session online application was released on October 26, 2019, and applications were accepted until November 14, 2019. Candidates who had passed MBBS and will have completed one year rotatory internship training by December 31, 2019 are eligible for the postgraduate medical programs in the institute. The exam was held in computer based test mode.
Percentage score for PGIMER MD/MS result is calculated upon the formula [x/a–y/b] ×100. Where x are truly correct answers marked by candidate, y are incorrect marked by candidate, and a and b are respectively the number of correct responses and incorrect responses such that a+b equals 1250, and 1250 is the total number of options in the paper that has 250 questions, with 5 options in each.
