Odisha Staff Selection Commission is inviting online applications to fill up vacancies of Food Safety Officer under Commissioner, Food Safety, Odisha. OSSC has published a detailed recruitment notice regarding this recruitment at the official website i.e. ossc.gov.in. Indian citizens with proficiency in the Odia language and meeting other minimum eligibility conditions can start applying online from July 16, 2020. The last date to apply online is August 08, 2020. A total number of 03 vacancies are advertised for the aforementioned post of Food Safety Officer. 01 vacancy each is reserved for the community categories of Unreserved, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. In order to apply for the recruitment, candidates must not be less than 21 years of age as on 01.01.2019. The upper age limit is 32 years. Candidates must have a degree in Food Technology/Dairy Technology/Bio Technology/Oil Technology/Agricultural Science/Veterinary Science/Biochemistry/Microbiology. Additionally, candidates having a Master’s degree in Chemistry or a degree in Medicine are also eligible to apply. Applicants must have achieved 60% minimum marks in their qualifying degree and possess adequate Computer Application knowledge. It is mandatory for all candidates to have studied Odia as a subject in HSC. Candidates are advised to refer to the detailed advertisement for the complete eligibility conditions.
The Commission adopts a multi-stage selection process consisting of a Main written exam, followed by a Computer Skill Test and a final document verification stage. There are no viva-voce stage for the selection. Eligible candidates are issued admit cards to appear in the exam which consists of two objective type papers of 100 marks each. Each paper consist of 100 objective type questions for which, 1.5 hours are allowed to complete the test of each paper. The first paper is based on General Studies, Maths, Computer Applications and English while the second paper is based on Food Safety Act & Rules and Chemistry. Candidates who qualify through the main exam are shortlisted to appear in the Computer Skill Test which carries 50 marks. Candidates must secure 15 marks or more to pass the skill test. The final selection stage is document verification during which, candidates are required to produce the original documents supporting their eligibility.
The application process is conducted online only. Candidates have to pay a fee of Rs 200 to apply for the recruitment. SC/ST and PWD candidates. The payment of fees through SBI Collect portal of the State Bank of India is final stage of the application process. Candidates have to register first at the website by providing among other details, a functional email id and mobile number.
Following successful registration, an application number is generated and the user id and password are intimated through the registered email id and mobile number. Candidates have to log in with these credentials to fill up the application form. In addition to photo & signature, one must also clear legible scanned copies of supporting documents with the application form. Care should be taken to ensure that the information furnished is correct and supported by relevant documents as there is no provision for application form correction for this recruitment.
