University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has decided to cancel UPESEAT 2020 (UPES Engineering Aptitude Test). The University had to cancel the exam due to the widespread COVID-19 pandemic. Now, admission B.Tech programmes will be granted based on in class 12 marks / JEE Main / SAT scores.

Apart from cancelling the UPES entrance exam for B. Tech admission, UPES has also cancelled UPESPAT 2020 for B.Pharm admission. Now as per the revised admission criteria, the admission will be done on the basis of 10+2 / JEE Main / SAT scores.
UPESPAT was scheduled to be held from July 25-26, 2020 and UPESEAT was to be held from August 16 to 20, 2020.
The last date to submit the application form for B.Tech admission is July 20, 2020, for round 1, July 31 for Round 2 and August 20 for Round 3. Once the students submit the UPES B.Tech application form, after this, students can submit class 10th & 12th marks till July 23, 2020. The selection list for Round 1 is going to release on July 25, 2020 at upes.ac.in.
For B.Pharma admission, the last date to apply is July 20, 2020.
Apart from UPES, SRM has cancelled its B.Tech entrance exam – SRMJEEE 2020 and VIT has cancelled its B.Tech entrance – VITEEE 2020. Amrita University is also speculating on holding its national level B.Tech entrance test – AEEE 2020.
As of now, many state boards have declared class 12th results 2020, however, some state boards are yet to declare the result like Manipur Board, PSEB (Punjab Board), etc. In case, if the applicants’ state board examinations are not declared yet, the students can upload the marks as soon as the board results get declared and then they will be considered for the next round of the selection process.
The allotment of seats in B.Tech programme is done based on the merit order and seat availability in the desired program. In case if there is a tie at 10+2 PCM score/percentage for B.Tech program, then the weightage is given to the candidate scoring higher marks in Mathematics followed by Physics and Chemistry (if required). Whereas in case there is a tie at 10+2 PCB score/percentage for B. Pharma program, the weightage will be given priority based on higher marks in Biology followed by Physics and Chemistry (if required)
UPES also offers scholarships to the students securing an aggregate of 80% marks in class X & XII & 80% marks in PCM for B.Tech (All Streams) in CBSE/ ICSE / State Examination Board. 25% of tuition fee waivers will be given to Boys and 35% for Girl students in the first year at UPES. For the Uttarakhand State Board Toppers, the University reserves 1 seat per program.
Last year at UPES B.Tech. at School Of Engineering, 800+ students were placed, i.e 90% of engineering students got job offers. Over 130 companies visited the campus like Ashok Leyland, Hyundai, ONGC, Schlumberger, Ambuja, Halliburton to name a few.
