Nursery Admission 2021: Good news for parents! 30 Days Age Relaxation Announced

As per a new circular of the DoE, principals & heads of private unaided schools are directed to allow 30 days relaxation on age for Nursery, KG & Class I admissions.

After commencing registrations for Nursery admissions in the NCR, Directorate of Education (DoE) is now allowing 30 days of age relaxation for such admissions. An official of the DoE was quoted saying “Principals or heads of the school might grant age relaxation of up to 30 days in the maximum or minimum age limit”. DoE started registrations for Nursery admission 2021 on February 18, 2021 for admission to more than 17000 schools in Nursery, KG & Class I levels. The last date to register for admissions is March 04, 2021. Parents applying for admission of their wards can now also avail the 30 day’s relaxation in age by submitting manual applications.

An official of the Directorate of Education was quoted saying by major media houses that an official circular regarding provision of 30 days relaxation on the upper and lower age limit has been released by the DeO. All the privately run, unaided schools in the NCR region has been directed by the DeO to follow the orders in the circular. Principals & heads of respective schools are empowered to grant this relaxation to parents who submit their manual applications requesting relaxations on their child’s age.

There are certain limitations on the age of a candidate when it comes to admission to Nursery, KG and Class I levels of basic school. As per reports, the DoE has established the upper age limit of 4 and 5 years for admission to Nursery & KG levels respectively. Students seeking admission to Class I must not be more than six years as of the date of reckon i.e. March 31, 2021. As per the new circular issued by the Directorate of Education, Principals & Heads of schools can now allow 30 days of relaxation on both the upper & lower age limit.

Based on previous reports, the entire procedure of registrations for Nursery, KG & Class 1 admissions is to be closed by March 31, 2021. The first list of candidates who are shortlisted for admission is to be published on March 20, 2021. Depending on the school, parents can check the result of their wards. It is published on the respective schools’ website. A second merit list of qualifying students is to be released on March 25, 2021. Likewise, this is also released on the respective school websites. The final list of qualifying candidates for admission is to be published on March 27, 2021. The classes for the academic session 2021 are scheduled to commence on April 01, 2021, for all the levels i.e. Nursery, KG and Class I. Parents are advised to keep a regular tab on the official website of the respective school where they have applied for.
