e Punjab School Management Information System has uploaded the NTSE 2019 state level exam for Punjab. The official website to download hall tickets for the National Talent Search Exam level 1 for Punjab students is epunjabschool.gov.in. There, a single link has been provided for NTSE as well as NMMS admit card download.
Go to epunjabschool.gov.in and click the link that says “admit cards for NTSE and NMMS 2019 are available for download”, under the circulars section, updated on October 25, 2019. This leads to a school / office login page.
Here, one has to enter using user name, password, and code that appears on screen. The admit download system is powered by state, district, and block MIS units.
As can be seen on the page, it appears to be a login for schools rather than individual students. Hence students can coordinate with their schools to get their examination call letters. And also, schools should, with few days to go for exam, look into distribution of the same at the earliest.
NTSE is conducted in two levels. The first is at state level – complete responsibility of conducting it is on the state, which in the case of Punjab lies with the department of school education. And the second level is on national scale, organized by NCERT.
The exam comprises of two papers namely Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Both the tests are conducted on the same day. In MAT, there are a total number of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) questions of 1 mark each. In SAT, also the same number of questions and maximum marks are allotted. However here, questions are from science, social science and mathematics, usually with a 40, 40 and 20 questions distribution.
There is no negative marking in MAT and SAT. Both the exams are held in pen and paper mode. Candidates are given an OMR sheet on which they have to mark their answers. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes each. Candidates who qualify both the examinations in order to be eligible for stage 2 of NTSE.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab will release the result for stage 1 in the months of January or February 2020. The result will be released in the form of a merit list. Students need to get qualifying marks in both papers in order to qualify. For general and OBC category candidates, 40% is the minimum qualifying marks whereas 32% is the minimum for SC, ST, PH candidates. Qualifiers of stage 1 examination are recommended for NTSE stage 2 conducted by the NCERT.
The NTSE level 2 is conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The exam is to be held on the second Sunday of May i.e on May 10, 2020. Level 1 scores are not included while calculating the result of stage 2.
National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is conducted in India at National level for nurturing and providing scholarship to the talented students. Qualifiers of NTS examination are provided financial aid in the form of a monthly scholarship. It is conducted for students of class 10th. The NTSE selection process is of two stages. In stage 1, the selection is done by the State/Union Territory through a written examination which includes MAT and SAT. Candidates are recommended for stage 2 if they qualify stage 1. The final selection is based on the result of stage 2 in which MAT and SAT are conducted at the National level.
From Punjab, 183 students will be selected for the scholarship.
