The National Institute of Design (NID) has started the application process for both Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and Master of Design (M.Des.) programmes. Interested candidates can submit the NID entrance exam 2022 application forms by November 30, 2021. However, candidates can submit the online application along with late fees between December 01, 2021 and December 05, 2021. All applications have to be submitted via the official admission website of NID – admissions.nid.edu.
Before starting with the application process, it is essential to familiarize with the eligibility criteria, test centres, reservation policy, etc. as mentioned in the Admissions Handbook 2022-23. After that, visit the website – admissions.nid.edu and complete the registration process by selecting a programme of study, nationality and category. Post successful registration, the candidates will receive the login credentials on the registered email address. Now, log in using these credentials and fill up the required details.
In the next stage, candidates have to upload scanned copies of their passport-size photo and signature. However, the ones belonging to the reserved categories must upload relevant documents, details of which are given on the Admissions Handbook. Now, pay the required application fees and take a printout of the application form.
Candidates belonging to General, General-EWS and OBC-NCL categories have to pay Rs 3000 as application fee. On the other hand, those from SC, ST, General-PwD, General-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD and ST-PwD categories have to pay Rs 1500 as application fee. The required fee for Overseas (Supernumerary) candidates is Rs 5000. Please note that the application fee for candidates applying for two disciplines under the M.Des. programme will be double the mentioned fees.
To be eligible for the B.Des. programme, a candidate who has passed or will appear for the higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations can apply. The stream of study can be Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc. from a recognized board. Similarly, for the M.Des. programme, the candidate can either have a bachelor degree (4-year duration) in any specialization or full-time diploma (4-year duration) in design, fine arts, applied arts or architecture. The third optional qualification is bachelor degree (3-year duration) in any specialization. Candidates having any one of the three degrees will be eligible to apply.
B.Des. applicants will have to appear for the stage 1 or prelims of the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The examination will be held on January 02, 2022. The questions in this test will mainly involve text and visuals. Based on the scores obtained in the DAT prelims, candidates will be shortlisted for the DAT mains. For the M.Des. programme, the DAT prelims paper will be of 100 marks comprising of a Common Design Aptitude Test and a Discipline Specific Test. This test will also be conducted on January 02, 2022.
