The application process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE 2022 is ending tomorrow, i.e. October 07, 2022. Those candidates who are yet to submit the applications can do so by tomorrow along with the late fee. Candidates after qualifying for this entrance examination will be eligible to seek admission to the masters and doctoral degree programmes in various engineering and science subjects.
With less than one day left for the applications to close, a major question that has emerged is whether the date will get extended or not. Now, there has been no official announcement in this regard, so far. In the previous years, the conducting bodies had extended the GATE application deadline in order to avoid heavy traffic. Whether this will be followed this year or not, is yet to be seen.
For GATE 2021, the applications were supposed to close on October 12, 2020 but were later postponed for 02 days. As a result, the applications with late fee closed on October 14, 2020. Similarly, for the 2020 session, the last date for GATE application date with late fee was extended from October 01, 2019 to October 05, 2019. Thus, it can be seen that the application deadline along with late fees was extended for 04 days.
In the last two years, the GATE applications with late fee got extended up to 04 days. Hence, there is a slight possibility for the last date to get extended this year as well. However, these are all speculations based on previous trends. Candidates, who have not yet submitted their applications are advised to do so at the earliest. Also, keep an eye on the official website – gate.iitkgp.ac.in for all updates.
