Tomorrow, August 25, 2021, is the last date to register for the National Eligibility Entrance Examination (NEET) PG 2021. Interested and eligible candidates are instructed to complete the application formalities latest by tomorrow, 11:55 pm on the official website nbe.edu.in or natboard.edu.in. Previously, the registration portal was reopened and the last date to apply was August 20, 2021. However, considering the problems faced by students due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the last date to register was extended to August 25, 2021. However, as of now, there is no change in the NEET PG 2021 exam date. The national-level medical postgraduate entrance exam is scheduled to take place on September 11, 2021.
Due to the second wave of COVID-19, NEET PG 2021 was postponed thrice. Initially, the exam was to be held in January followed by April and then in August 2021. However, due to the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases, most of the country’s healthcare practitioners including MBBS passouts were put on Covid-duty. Juggling between duty and studying was not possible due to which the central government in April 2021, decided to postpone the exam by four months.
Again in August 2021, NBE extended the registration deadline twice to give more time to NEET PG 2021 to complete the registration formalities. Keeping all these changes in mind, the NEET PG 2021 exam is scheduled to be conducted on September 11, 2021. However, due to the constant change in schedule, candidates are worried that the exam will again get postponed.
While the fear and doubt are valid, the central government last month, gave an assurance that it had no plans of postponing the NEET PG 2021 exam any further. Apart from assuring that the exam will be conducted on the decided date, the central government also assured that the medical entrance exams will be held by following all the precautionary measures. These include constant sanitation of hands and social-distancing protocols. Apart from this, NEET PG 2021 admit cards will also be constituting COVID e-passes. This will ensure easy mobilisation of students on the examination date.
This reassurance was given in July 2021 and since then, authorities have not announced any changes in the examination date. Hence, it is expected that the NEET PG 2021 exam might be held on the scheduled date, which is September 2021 itself.
Apart from the doubts about exam postponement, NEET PG 2021 aspirants are also asking the NBE for an option to change exam city. During the initial months of 2021 (while filling the application form), these candidates were located in other cities. Since then, months have passed and some candidates have changed their location. Hence, for travel convenience, candidates are requesting NBE authorities to provide the centre-change facility. However, NBE is yet to comment on this issue.
