National Board of Examination for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is currently conducting the NEET MDS 2022 registration process, through the online mode. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the national-level PG dental exam on or before January 24, 2022, up to 11:55 pm. As per the information brochure, the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) MDS 2022 examination is all set to be conducted on March 06, 2022. It will be held through the computer-based test.
While most candidates are busy applying for the NEET MDS 2022 exam, those from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, have some other concerns to put forth. In fact, these students have written to their Vice Chancellor, communicating an important request.
NEET MDS 2022 Which Concerns do RGUMS Students have?
Before applying for the NEET MDS 2022 examination, candidates need to ascertain their eligibility for the exam. These eligibility criteria have been elaborated in the information brochure. These criteria are the exact cause of concern for some RGUHS students.
As per the Dentist Act, 1948, the Dental Council of India has made it mandatory for all interns to complete one year of rotary internship before applying for the PG dental exam.
According to the RGUMS students, the intern students of BDS Batch 2016-17 are scheduled to appear for the odd semester examination in April 2022. Results for this semester will be announced thereafter, in May 2022. However, this entire ordeal was supposed to get over by March 2021 but was delayed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to this delay, internships began in the second week of May 2021, making this particular batch of students ineligible for NEET MDS 2022.
In the letter explaining the above circumstances, students have requested the vice-chancellor to communicate the same to the dental council. This may lead to an extension in internship completion dates as well as NEET MDS 2022 application process. A photograph of this letter has also been widely circulated on social media platforms including Twitter.
With just 5 days left for the NEET MDS 2022 registration deadline, any major decision needs to be taken as soon as possible, to not disrupt the exam calendar. As of now, the registration deadline is just 5 days away i.e., January 24, 2022.
If the eligibility criteria are not relaxed, this particular batch of students will have to skip this year and appear for the next session – NEET MDS 2023. However, no exact predictions can be made regarding the future. Candidates can just wait for DCI to make any announcement acknowledging and resolving the issue.
